Melvin Leon Francisco

 

Melvin Leon Francisco, 74 of Floyd, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents, James & Virginia Francisco; and siblings, Norma Jean Lipscomb, Erma Jo Huffman, Pete Francisco, Margarett Sweet, Clyde Francisco, Richard Francisco, and Franklin Francisco.

Melvin will be remembered as a giving and kind-hearted man. He was often seen giving people rides to and from food banks. He was always sharing jokes and funny stories. He was a treasured son-in-law to Emmie C. Conner and will be missed by his cat, Luna.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Francisco; daughters & son-in-law, Jo Ann & Will Mcglothlin, Peggy Francisco, and Linda Beltran; grandchildren, William Lee Statome (Trae), Amanda Statome, Cristofer Lopez, and Laci Lopez, Chelsea Francisco, Larissa Raines, Haley Raines, and Conner Raines; great-grandchildren, Brayleigh, Mariza, and Sage; brother, Marvin Francisco; and mother-in-law, Emmie C. Conner.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at Little River Baptist Church with Mr. Steven Wade officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. prior to the service at the church. A meal of fellowship will follow.

Charles William Altizer

 

Charles William Altizer, 79 of Christiansburg, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents, Shelor Guy, Sr. & Juanita Ester Williams Altizer; granddaughter, Jennifer Kay Sheppard; and siblings, Bobby Altizer, Linda Gilmore, and Joann Via.

He is survived by his wife, Martha A. Altizer; sons, Gary Wayne Altizer (Dreama), William “Tommy” Altizer (Marcie), Sammy Lee Altizer (Alice) and Danny Lane Altizer (Lisa);  grandchildren, Amber, Jeremy, Sierra, Daniel, Jacob, Madison, Angel, Jaelyn, Lauren, Tyler, and Paris; great-grandchildren, Noah and Rory; and brothers, Shelor Guy Altizer, Jr. “Peanut” and Eddie Altizer.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024 with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Cornersview Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Frankie Graham and Pastor Jerry Shepherd officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 in the Willis Cemetery.

Elizabeth Jane Haynes Gallimore Davis

 

Elizabeth Jane Haynes Gallimore Davis, 64, passed away in the comfort of her home in Edmond, Oklahoma on April 30, 2024. 

She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Davis; her children, Jason Gallimore and partner Mark Williams, Joseph Gallimore and wife Crystal Gallimore, Thornton Gallimore and wife Ana Gallimore, Steven Davis and wife Jennifer Davis, Paul Davis, James Davis, Kurt Davis and Kevin Davis. Also surviving are  her parents, Paul and Betty Haynes; and brothers, Paul Haynes, Dallas Haynes, Dwight Haynes and Luke Haynes. In addition to her surviving children, Jane was blessed with 10 grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her late husband, Alan Gallimore; and sons, Chris Davis (surviving widow Katie Davis) and TJ Davis. 

Jane graduated from Christiansburg High School in 1978 and held a Bachelors of Science in Psychology, a Master of Arts in Human Services, Marriage and Family, and a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. From providing a loving home to her own children and many foster care children over the years, to maintaining a large roster of counseling clients, Jane was always passionate about improving the lives of those around her, especially children. Her passions throughout life centered around being the best mother she could be, along with a love for music, gardening, cooking, genealogy, reading and so much more.  

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Randy McDaniel officiating. Interment will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024 at the funeral home.

A celebration of life potluck meal will be held at Floyd United Methodist Church fellowship hall immediately after the interment.

Ramona Carol Thomas Turman

 

Ramona Carol Thomas Turman, 82, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2024 in Salem, VA. She was born in Greenbrier, West Virginia as the daughter of Floyd Milton Thomas & Alta Pearl Thomas. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Arlene Rosenbaum and Virgie Burleson; one brother, Rae Thomas; and her father-in-law & mother-in-law, Walter Lee & Addie Mae Turman.

Ramona graduated from Andrew Lewis High School where she then gained employment at Western Electric in downtown Roanoke. It was there that she met her loyal and loving husband Don and they celebrated 59 wonderful years in marriage together. She also worked as a stenographer and secretary. Mona was a fantastic cook, talented interior decorator, and had a passion for the music and memorabilia of Elvis Presley.

Mona was a devoted and loving wife to her surviving husband of 59 years, Donald Lee Turman; one daughter, Leigh Anne Foster; one granddaughter, Taylor Leigh-Scott Foster; and one niece, Beverly Russell.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Vest officiating. Interment will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Sherry Haid

 

Sherry Haid, 81 of Willis, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, April 29, 2024 after a hard battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Sherry was a loving and devoted mother. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. 

Sherry is survived by her three children, Thomas Haid, Ronald Haid and his wife Chanel, and Kellie Sousa and David Sousa whom faithfully watch over her to keep her safe during the day.  Sherry was a grandmother to six grandchildren, Tiffany Kirby and her husband Allen Lee Kirby, Aaron Haid and his wife Taylor Haid, Amber Fain, Stephanie Sousa, Devynn Haid, and Madison Haid. Sherry was also blessed to be a great grandmother, GiGi, to nine  beautiful great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024 in Big Sand Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Dalton officiating. She always said she never wanted people wearing black at her funeral, so only colorful outfits will do!

Verna Pauline Marshall

 

 

Verna Pauline Marshall, 91, of Indian Valley, VA, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2024 at Skyline Assisted Living Center in Floyd, VA.

 

She was born December 23, 1932 in Indian Valley, VA, and was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edgar Marshall; son, Kenneth Ray Marshall; daughter, Barbara Marshall Hylton; and several siblings.

 

She is survived by her son, Charles Edward Marshall of Hattiesburg, MS; her two grandsons, Brandon Elliot Marshall of Hattiesburg, MS, and Jason Edward Marshall (Cristy) of Madison, MS; two great grandsons, Noah and Logan; her sisters, Alice Snyder of Elliston, VA and Shirley Bryant and her loving friend and caregiver, Renie Gates.

 

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Verna was devoted to her fellow Christians at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and enjoyed gardening, soap operas, baking, traveling, puzzles, long talks filled with humor and just a bit of gossip, and the occasional strawberry daiquiri on special occasions. Known for her generosity, warmth, sincerity, smile and love of life, she touched every soul she encountered and brightened every room she entered. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and adored her.

 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2024 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ricky Atkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Willis Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Hilda "Peggy" Harris

 

Hilda “Peggy” Harris, 94 of Floyd, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, April 26, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband, Posey Harris; parents, Charles & Arizona Peters; five brothers and five sisters. 

She is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Kirby & Janet Harris, Benny & Pam Harris; daughter & son-in-law, Gail & George Phillips; grandchildren, Diana & Brian Davis, Chad & Meagan Harris, Michael & Lynnsey Harris, Ryan Phillips & Rebecca Wiseman, Evan & Morgan Phillips, Haley & Alex Gates and Adam & Caitlyn Scaggs; great-grandchildren, Reagan & Grayson Harris, Avri, Brylee & Camden Phillips, Jaxon & Callie Gates and Harper & Peyton Scaggs; special nephew, Randall Nolen and special friends Virginia Williams and Carolyn Shockley.

Peggy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Floyd United Methodist Church for 70 years.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Timothy Hale officiating. Interment will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery. Benjamin "Ray" Spangler, Sr.

 

Benjamin “Ray” Spangler, Sr., 95 of Shawsville, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024. He is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Smith Spangler; son, Russell Samuel Spangler; six brothers and five sisters.

Ray was a WWII Navy Veteran. He was a 60 year member of the Stuart Lodge #224, of Lebanon, VA, a member of the Shriners of Roanoke, and a 73 year member of Operating Engineers Local 147, Norfolk, VA. Ray is remembered locally for his ability to repair and restore heavy equipment and farm machinery and he is especially remembered for his generosity to others.

He is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Benjamin Ray Jr. & Thelma Spangler; granddaughter, Anne Marie Graham (John); sister, Shirley Spangler Barlow and his pets, Henry and Kitty Cat.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Warren Bumgarner officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Al Lee Bolt

 

Our beloved father and husband passed away on March 18, 2024, while visiting Charleston, South Carolina, from complications due to a stroke he suffered eleven days before.

 He was born and raised in Willis, Virginia, in Floyd County, and was a southern gentleman through and through. His curiosity about the world around him led him to study world languages at Emory and Henry College in Emory, Virginia. Upon graduation, he was hired by Fairfax County Public Schools as a World Language Teacher at W.T. Woodson High School. After two years he took a sabbatical from teaching to serve as a volunteer for the United States Peace Corps. In 1965, he was sent to Valle Bajo, Bolivia, a small, rural farming town, with the mission of teaching agricultural practices to the local farmers. However, he saw a more urgent need for this town. He initiated, and carried out, a clean water project that brought cleaner, safer water to a central location for the residents of this town. From that point on he was known as “the man who brought us water”. During this time, he also met and married Sonia, who lived in Samaipata, a nearby town. After two years in Bolivia, in 1967, he and his new bride returned to the United States to resume his teaching career and to start a family.

 He was a respected and admired teacher at W.T. Woodson High School and Lake Braddock Secondary School for 31 years where he taught Spanish, French, and German. As a teacher, and as a father, his integrity never wavered. He was happiest traveling to any place in the world, camping at the beach, socializing with friends, and spending time with his family.

 He and Sonia raised three children, María, Jon, and Mark. Our memories are filled with Volkswagen vans full of camping gear, meals around picnic tables, summer birthday parties, laughter, Thanksgivings in Willis, and mass every Sunday.

 In addition to his wife and three children, he leaves behind his grandchildren, Alex, Ben, Marek, Jesse, Addison, and Scout, his daughters- and son-in-law Karen, Mary Anne, and Edo, and his sister Helen. We will all do our best to live up to the example he set for us.

 Sonia and family ask for donations to St. Jude’s children’s Research Hospital in lieu of flowers. You can share in honor of Al at the Al Lee Bolt St. Jude Memorial Fund. 

Jo Ann Conner Maberry

 

Jo Ann Conner Maberry, 93 of Floyd, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, April 14, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Carlin G. Maberry; and her parents, Curtis and Ocie Conner.

Jo Ann was a graduate of Check High School Class of 1948 where she was known as “petite, popular, and a speedy ball player” in her senior yearbook. Her love of basketball continued into her 80’s as she thoroughly enjoyed watching Floyd County High School basketball, even traveling to Richmond for state games until she was no longer able. She also loved being outside any chance she got; working in her garden and planting flowers. Traveling was a favorite pastime, especially taking Abbott Bus trips in later years, and she always made sure her daughters got to go on vacation growing up.

She married the love of her life on June 5, 1953 and settled into their first home in Willis. She worked at Maberry Store when it was located in Willis. She worked for Floyd County Public Schools for 25 years, working at Willis Elementary, Floyd Elementary, Floyd County High School, and the Bus Garage and Maintenance Department as secretary until her retirement. In addition to the school, she worked with her family at Maberry Funeral Home, Inc., becoming Owner and President in 2008 following Carlin’s death. She was lovingly referred to as “The General” by her staff, “The Troops.” She’s remembered for always working three jobs; the school system, the funeral home, and raising her two daughters and later keeping her granddaughter after school.

She was co-chair and instrumental in starting the Floyd County Chapter of the American Red Cross with her husband. She was a member of the Floyd Rebekah Lodge for many years. She enjoyed outings with the Blue Ridge Model A Club where she got to show off her cherished 1931 Model A that belonged to her dad and that she learned to drive on. She valued being a dedicated member of Floyd United Methodist Church until she was no longer able to go in-person.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Ann M. and Larry C. Phillips and Mitzi M. and Rodney D. Roberson; granddaughter, Nicole R. Carr; great-granddaughter, Natalynn C. Carr; special caregiver, Barbara Gallimore; and special co-workers, Phillip Owens, Frank Keith, Isaiah Cox, Janelle Cox, Todd King, Wayne Lovelace, and Paul Hill.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Timothy Hale officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at the funeral home.

Barbara Ann Russell Bishop

 

Barbara Ann Russell Bishop, 72 of Willis, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 after a hard fought battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her father, Joe Russell of Baywood; brother, Jerry Russell of Woodlawn; niece, Teri Lyn Russell of Baywood; sister-in-law, Linda Russell of Baywood; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was a member of Harris Chapel Church where she enjoyed singing. She loved going to the beach, working at the food bank, flowers, and gardening.

She is survived by her husband, Allen Bishop of Willis; mother, Edith Russell of Baywood; brother, Jesse Russell of Baywood; son, Ted (Crystal) Cole of Independence; granddaughters, Samantha Cole of Independence and Brooke (Tyler) Hallyburton of Woodlawn; special aunt, Olive Furman of Houston, TX; special friends, Hope Banard and Norma Pratt; one brother-in-law and several sisters-in-law, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on April 21, 2024 at Harris Chapel Church with Pastor Marcus Wood officiating.

Earl Reece

 

Earl Reece, 82 of Christiansburg, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie & Maywood Reece.

Earl was well known as a husband, dad, friend, and co-worker but his most treasured title was “Pa.” 

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Loraine Reece; children, Kim Brown and Darryl Reece; grandchildren, Cristina Dunfee (Seth) and Jessica Brown; great-grandchildren, Mason Dunfee and Charlie Dunfee; sisters & brother-in-law, Faye Showers and Gelia & Nelson Phillips; and numerous other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2024 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Cox officiating. Interment will follow in the Dalton-Turman Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Carolyn Conner

Carolyn Conner, 81, of Riner, Virgina, passed away on April 6, 2024 surrounded by her family.

Carolyn was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. She was a strong woman and a source of inspiration to all. She was a woman dedicated to her faith, and she instilled in those closest to her the importance of family, hard work, and above all else, following the Lord in every situation of life.

Carolyn was born on May 17, 1942 to Mary & Marvin Bower in Montgomery County, VA. She attended Check High School where she met the love of her life, Clyde Edsel Conner. They were married in Christiansburg, Virginia on January 23, 1960. Clyde and Carolyn were married for over 64 years and had four children, Edsel, Brenda, Kevin, and Garrett. Being a devoted wife and mother was one of the most important parts of Carolyn’s life, a role that gave her much pride and joy. She was an excellent mom, and was supportive, kind, and quick-witted. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, James Marvin Bower and Mary Edna Underwood.

She is survived by her husband, Clyde Edsel Conner of Riner, VA; her four children, Rev. Edsel Conner (Judy) of Check, VA, Brenda Tamondong (Liborio) of Greenville, NC, Kevin Conner (Christi) of Radford, VA, and Garrett Conner (Susan) of Dublin, VA; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Kingrea officiating. Interment will follow in the Wilson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at the funeral home. All are welcome to attend.

Edna Keith Weddle

 

Edna Keith Weddle, 92 of Floyd, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband, Talmadge “Tap” Weddle; son, Tom “Dozer” Weddle; granddaughter, Kim Boothe; parents, Kerry Albert & Bula Dove King Keith; siblings, Lester Michael Keith, Iva & Palmer Tolbert, Shirley & Ralph Duncan, Peggy Bishop, and Elmer & Delphina Keith; and brother-in-law, Harold Alderman. 

She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Diana W. & Richard Burton; son, Lester Weddle; grandchildren, Todd Boothe, Whitney Branscome, Corey Sparr (Jesse), Jessica Saylor (Tim), Jessie Weddle, and Tracy B. Hubbard (Jason); great-grandchildren, Miranda, Keegan, MacKenzie, Carter, Jay, Annika, Bronwyn, Aaron, Kameron, Aisling, Neriah, Mary, Max, and Grayson; brother, James & Doreda Keith; and sister-in-law, Martha C. Keith.

Rebecca Zell Underwood

 

Rebecca Zell Underwood, 59 formerly of Riner, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, March 31, 2024. She was born on February 13, 1965 to the late James Junior, Sr. & Audrey Lester Underwood.

Rebecca was a faithful member of her Sunday School class, Spirit Lifters and loved her Pastor Tim & Dawn Hight. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She brought joy and light to all around her and loved joking around. She was the Eagle mascot for Auburn High School. She enjoyed many things, including dogs, puzzles, crafts, and Wii games, but had a special fondness for the Grinch. In her time at Heritage Hall in Blacksburg, she made many friends, including her roommate Ramona, and genuinely loved her time there.

She is survived by her brothers & sisters-in-law, James Underwood, Jr. (Donna) and Eddie Underwood (Angelia); sister & brother-in-law, Rhonda U. Ackerman (John); nieces & nephews, Lynda U. Dolan (Jimmy), Karen Underwood, Taylor Gordon (Trent), Morgan Huber (Ben), Braiden Underwood (Jessica), Brandon Ackerman (Mo), and Carter Ackerman; great-nieces and great-nephews, Briel Underwood, Piper Lytton, Brenleigh, Karleigh, and Denzly Dolan, Sawyer, Caroline, and Jolee Gordon, and Crosby, Charleigh, and Heidi Huber; aunts and uncles, Betty Ann & Ronnie Lester, Claude & Janice Miles, Kenneth Kenley, Joyce & Lloyd Thompson, and Dean & Iris Sowers; and many cousins and friends.

James Allen Walker

 

James Allen Walker, Sr., 68 of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alphonso & Mary Williams Walker.

He is survived by his children, James A. Walker, Jr., Jasmine Walker, and Subria Walker; six grandchildren; brother, Donnie Ray Walker; sister, Darnell Walker; and aunt, Christine Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Michael Preston officiating. Interment will follow in Little River Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Colene Quesenberry Gallimore

 

Colene Quesenberry Gallimore, 86 of Indian Valley, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Arbie Clarence Gallimore; son, Maynard Clarence Gallimore; son-in-law, Todd Nathanial Huff; and brothers, Baynard Taft Quesenberry and Lonnie Carl Quesenberry.

Colene married the love of her life, Arbie, at 16 years old and spent 59 happy years together. She was an avid gardener, growing and canning food for many years. She loved to mow and weed-eat, spending an abundance of time outdoors. She enjoyed caring for others, assisting in caring for her younger siblings, raising her children and then babysitting grandchildren in later years. She loved to clean and took pride in keeping an immaculate home. 

She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Belcher, Rhonda Sowers (David), Annette Asbury, and Sharon Huff; grandchildren, Jason Belcher, Travis Belcher (Amanda), David Belcher (Rachel), Dustin Gallimore (Maggie), Tonya Yoder (Leroy), Brian Sowers, Brandon Asbury (Brandi), Shayne Asbury (Amanda), Joshua Huff, and Natalie Huff; great-grandchildren, Brittany Belcher, Kaylee Belcher, McKinsey Belcher, Peyton Hill, Addison Belcher, Joel Diggs, Noah Belcher, Blake Yoder, Wyatt Yoder, Landon Yoder, Carter Yoder, Lottie Yoder, Colby Asbury, Bentley Asbury, Logan Asbury, Cameron Asbury, Conner Asbury, and baby girl Asbury; siblings, Maxine Carroll (James), Ludlow Quesenberry (Blanche), Modene Quesenberry, Anita Collins, and Reidell Quesenberry; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rocky Huff officiating. Interment will follow in Captain George Quesenberry Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Lois Ann Poff Akers

 

Lois Ann Poff Akers, 79 of Floyd, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024. She is preceded in death by her father, Flemon Poff; siblings, Katherine Poff, Imogene Poff, Edsel Poff, and Darlene Poff Dove; and son-in-law, Mark Woollums.

She is survived by her mother, Pauline Pratt Poff; daughters, Joana Akers Shelor (Jeff), Carolyn Akers, and Glynda Akers Woollums; grandchildren, Matthew Woollums, Ryan Woollums, Anna (Dylan) Guiter, and Aaron Shelor; sister & brothers-in-law, Melinda Poff Shaver & Melvin and Calvin Dove; sister-in-law, Arlene Hedrick & Merrell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dwayne Martin, Pastor Merrell Hedrick, and Rebecca Navarro officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Todd Nathanial Huff

 

Todd Nathanial Huff, 48 of Indian Valley, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024. He is preceded in death by his father, Roger Dewey Huff; and father-in-law, Arbie Clarence Gallimore.

Todd was well known in his community of Indian Valley, a place he loved and cherished and lived with his adoring family. He met the love of his life when they were 11 and 12 years old, true elementary school sweethearts. They happily built their home on the land where they met and played as children. The love he had for his family was immense. He dedicated 24 years to Hollingsworth & Vose. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed hunting, shooting guns, and history, collecting rocks and arrowheads. He attended Indian Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church regularly.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sharon Trail Huff; children, Joshua Nathanial Huff and Natalie Morgan Huff; mother, Betty Lytton Huff; brothers, Timmy Huff and Terry Huff; special dog, Jack Silas Huff; in-laws, Colene Gallimore, Kathleen Belcher, and Barry & Barbara Trail; and numerous nieces & nephews.  

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Indian Valley Church of God with Rev. Kenneth Poston and Pastor Rocky Huff officiating. Interment will follow in Captain George Quesenberry Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Regina Kay Sutphin Compton

 

Regina Kay Sutphin Compton, 58 of Willis, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dallas Ray Sutphin and Mattie Jane Quesenberry.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Brandon Matthew Compton (Kalani Ziegler); step-daughter, Cassie Compton; sister & brother-in-law, Joan Marie & David Slusher; brother & sister-in-law, Danny Ray & June Sutphin; nieces and nephews, Taylor Ryan Slusher, Brooke Kathleen Slusher, Maegan Roop, and Rachel Compton; and special friend, Alvin Alderman.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
