Carolyn Conner, 81, of Riner, Virgina, passed away on April 6, 2024 surrounded by her family.
Carolyn was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. She was a strong woman and a source of inspiration to all. She was a woman dedicated to her faith, and she instilled in those closest to her the importance of family, hard work, and above all else, following the Lord in every situation of life.
Carolyn was born on May 17, 1942 to Mary & Marvin Bower in Montgomery County, VA. She attended Check High School where she met the love of her life, Clyde Edsel Conner. They were married in Christiansburg, Virginia on January 23, 1960. Clyde and Carolyn were married for over 64 years and had four children, Edsel, Brenda, Kevin, and Garrett. Being a devoted wife and mother was one of the most important parts of Carolyn’s life, a role that gave her much pride and joy. She was an excellent mom, and was supportive, kind, and quick-witted. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, James Marvin Bower and Mary Edna Underwood.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde Edsel Conner of Riner, VA; her four children, Rev. Edsel Conner (Judy) of Check, VA, Brenda Tamondong (Liborio) of Greenville, NC, Kevin Conner (Christi) of Radford, VA, and Garrett Conner (Susan) of Dublin, VA; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral
services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024 in the Maberry
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Kingrea officiating. Interment will
follow in the Wilson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m.
until 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at the funeral home. All are welcome
to attend.
