April Dawn Reed



April Dawn Reed, age 36, of Bassett, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016.  She is preceded in death by her parents Russell Mahlon and Lula Mae Dickerson Reed of Floyd.
 Left to cherish her memories are her Son Eric Brandon Joyce of Floyd, sister Norma Reed Sebastian of Martinsville, brother Kenneth Russell Reed of Bassett, sister Sandra Jean Reed of Floyd, and brother Marvin Douglas Reed of Martinsville; aunt Essie Goad of Ferrum, aunt Ila Reed of Willis and numerous extended family.
  The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Tuesday August 30,2016 at Maberry Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Ricky Randall officiating. Interment will follow at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday in the Duncans Chapel Cemetery.

Dorcas Elaine Cox


Dorcas Elaine Cox, 88 of Floyd, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. She was born January 25, 1928 in Indian Valley, VA to the late Zack T. and Eliza Reed Cox. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by seven sisters, Ocie Dulaney, Pearl Reed, Rosie Clay, Eulala Dickerson, Ilene Hylton, Clarice Smith, and Aldah Cox as well as one brother Hobert McKinley Cox. Dorcas Elaine has been a dedicated member of the church of Christ for 54 years as of October 2012.

Survivors include one sister, Lois Jean Cox of Floyd;brother-in-law, Troy Smith; nieces, Barbara Cable, Troutville, VA, Shirley Layman, Naples, FL, Phyllis Liebing, Naples, FL, Wanda Dalton, Floyd, VA, Glenna Shelor, Stuart, VA, Vicki Moser, Nashville, TN; nephews, Roger Clay, Christiansburg, VA, Lowell Clay, Laurel Fork, VA, Kendall Clay, Radford, VA, Ronald Smith, Indian Valley, VA, Richard Smith, Riner, VA, Rickie Smith, Indian Valley, VA;  Special thanks to Dr. Garry Kuiken and staff,  and to Elizabeth Hiebert, B.S., QMHP for their loving care through the years. Also a very special thanks to Bevin Marshall and her son Wayne Marshall for acts of kindness and love shown throughout the years.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 25, 2016 at the Floyd Church of Christ with Mr. Mitchell Floyd officiating. Interment to follow at Captain George Quesenberry Cemetery, Indian Valley, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Dorcas Elaine requests that no food or flowers be sent.

James Paul Brean



          
James Paul Brean, 84 of Riner, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016.  Jimmy was a hard-working man who always liked to keep busy.  He loved his wife of 59 years, his six children and six grandchildren.  His family was the most import thing to him.  Jimmy enjoyed his life and he loved to take road trips with his wife. He enjoyed being outside caring for his garden and yard, as it was one of his favorite past- time activities.  Jimmy will always be our role model and his strength is inspirational.  We will miss him terribly,  but we will always love him and know he is looking down on us.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Edith Brean; sons, Richard Paul Brean, Robert James Brean; daughters & sons-in-law,Patricia Ann Faraci and Joseph Frank Faraci, Jr., Donna Marie Denton and Matt Denton, Sharon Louise Brean, Amy Jean Gawlak and Michael Gawlak; grandchildren, Kevan Armstrong, Kristen Faraci, Nicole Brean, Carli Faraci, Noah Brean, Kyle Brean, Rachel Gawlak; great grandchild, Joey Rondinone.
Graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, August 26, 2016 at Southwest Virginia Veteran Cemetery with Rev. David Ssentamu officiating. Military Rites by Floyd V.F.W. Post #7854 & American Legion Post #127.  Visitation will be 11:00 to Noon at Maberry Funeral Home Chapel prior to the graveside service.

Danny Webb


Danny Edward Webb, 62 of Willis, passed away Monday, August 8, 2016.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Noveline Webb; brothers, Denny, Jurdin and Royce Webb. 

Danny passed away at his home after a battle with cancer.  He was a loving husband, dad, papa, brother and friend to so many.  He had a love for fishing and hunting and a  passion for his work at Gary’s Backhoe Service for 20 years.  He will be loved and missed by so many.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Webb; father, Mawyer Clinton Webb; daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia & Mickey Bolt, Jonie & Shawn Brennan; Ten special  grandchildren; brother, Donnie Webb; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon (Cookie) & Earl Tobler, Dorothy & Terry Felts, Nellie & Darrell Underwood, Reva & Danny Alderman; four  nieces and one nephew.
Graveside service will be held at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the Harris Cemetery with Pastor Nathan Montgomery officiating.  Family will receive friends at 4:00 p.m. prior to the service.  Arrangements by Maberry Funeral Home.
