Bruce Theodore "Ted" Hudson

Bruce Theodore “Ted” Hudson, 68, of Chatham, Virginia passed away on January 19, 2019 from widespread cancer that was only recently diagnosed.  Ted was a graduate of E.C. Glass High School and Virginia Western Community College.  He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1974.  Though he primarily worked in electronics and engineering, his favorite pursuits were woodworking, playing guitar and preparing delicious food for the people he loved.  Ted wrote songs, created recipes and crafted everything from china cabinets to dining sets.  There was nothing he couldn’t build, repair or design.  Ted became a friend to everyone he met and could hold an enjoyable conversation with any person of any age from any walk of life.  If you knew him, your life was the richer for it.  Beyond all else, Ted’s greatest passion was making memories with his family, whether it was outdoor movie nights with fire pits, fishing off the boat on the lake, or throwing the Frisbee on the beach.  He knew how to have a good time and was always teaching all of us to do the same.

Ted is survived by his treasured wife, Janet; his beloved children, Stephanie (Jeff) Moran of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Heather (Jeff) Little of Raleigh, North Carolina, Jeremy (Lauren) Cox of Richmond, Virginia and Gabe Hudson of Washington, D.C; his twelve cherished grandchildren: Jacob Little, Morgan Little, Natalie Little, Nora Cox, James Cox, Colin Moran, Ethan Moran, Nicholas Moran, Eli Moran, Olivia Moran, Clare Moran and Zeke Moran; his two precious sisters, Carol (Roger) St. Clair of Shawsville, VA and Ginger Hartless of Front Royal, Virginia; and many dear nieces and nephews.  Heaven’s gain is our great loss.

Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Monday, January 21, 2019 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel in Floyd, Virginia and funeral service will be 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at the same location.  Burial will follow at the family (William Quesenberry) cemetery on Shady Grove Road in Indian Valley.
