Jean Ann Roberts Gladding


Jean Ann Roberts Gladding, 78 of Willis, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold & Nancy Roberts.

Jean retired from the Connecticut Department of Corrections, was a Drug & Alcohol Abuse Counselor, and a volunteer for the suicide help line. She was also an Active Elected Union Delegate.

Jean lived an incredibly full and active life, filled with bowling and golf leagues, music, travel and camping; spending winters in the Florida Keys where she collected sea shells and sea glass. She had a deep connection to Italy and traveled there each summer as well as to Newport, Rhode Island. She truly loved and embraced life.

She is survived by the love of her life, Brian Buck; daughter, Susanne Gladding (Greg Vaughn); granddaughter, Gina Gladding; siblings, Linda Nappi (James Wilson), James Roberts (Kathy), and Sylvia Joska (Jim); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held.

Frances Louise Moles

Frances Louise Moles, 83 of Meadows of Dan, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, John Cline & Haley Myrtle Howell; brothers, Buddy, Bobby, Allan, Billy Joe, Jackie and Thomas; and sister, Dorothy Mae.

She is survived by Alvin Moles; daughters & sons-in-law, Joan Moles, Sherry and Garry Estes, Tamara Hughes, Chastidy and Marcus Heath; son & daughter-in-law, Chad & Kathy Moles; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Priscilla Ann Poff; and brothers, Charles & Pansey Howell and Donald & Peggy Howell.

Funeral services will be private.

Delpha Ann Weddle Sutphin


Delpha Ann Weddle Sutphin, 81 of Floyd, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022. She is preceded in death by her husband, David Edison Sutphin; brothers, Bruce Edward Weddle and Dwight Edward Weddle; and sisters, Catherine Elizabeth Weddle Quesinberry, Hilda Mae Weddle Belcher, Lyndell Kayron Weddle Bower, Frances Edwena Weddle Hatcher, and Carolyn Ruth Weddle Magana.

She was a wonderful mom and sister with a love of quilting, sewing, embroidery, and reading.

She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Steven Dwayne & Heather Dee Nyquist Sutphin; daughter & son-in-law, Sandra Lynn & Russell Jackson Rorrer; grandson, Jeffery Aaron Sutphin; sister, Janet Evelyn Weddle Hylton (Russell Lane Hylton); and in-laws, Richard & Ruby Sutphin and Marlene & Cecil Compton.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Darren Landon officiating. Interment will follow in the Alderman Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Larry Wayne Hale


 

Larry Wayne “Smiley” Hale, 73 of Floyd, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 2, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cebert and Algie Hale; and his son, Daniel Hale; sisters, Ann Goad Slaughter and Ollie Trail; and brother, Ralph Hale.

He worked at Rowe furniture for 55 years. He loved farming.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, who he always liked to tell people that he married when she was 14, Brenda Akers Hale; daughters, Brenda Sue Justice (Sam) and Durene Hale Chavarria (Mario); son, Samuel Hale; grandchildren, Davina Hall, Sarah Chavarria, Laura Chavarria, and Rebekah Chavarria; great-grandchildren, Abigail Morris, Nathanael Hall, Anna Hall, and Alaina Hall; brothers, Edgar Hale (Vannie Sue) and Carlis Hale; and special friend, Greg Janney.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barry Coffey officiating. Interment will follow in the Cole Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2022 at the funeral home.

Jean Q. Hubbard, 86 of Willis, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022. She is preceded in death by her son, Lane Hubbard; and her sisters, Lucille Reed and Elizabeth Alls.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Hubert Hubbard; son, Alan Hubbard; daughter-in-law, Sandy Hubbard; grandchildren, Johnathan & Kadesh Hubbard, Matthew Hubbard, Danielle Hubbard, Keith Hubbard, Zachary Hubbard, and Emily Hubbard; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2022 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dale Belcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Shelor Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
