Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, July
17, 2014 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leon Wood
officiating. Interment will follow in the Williams Cemetery. The family will
receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the funeral
home.
Vera Alderman Moles, 74, of Willis, passed over
to her eternal resting place in Heaven on Saturday, July 5, 2014. She was born
to the late Walter and Emma Alderman. Vera is survived by her loving husband of
58 years, Junior Moles. She also leaves behind many to treasure all the love
she gave, including children; Becky (Don) Cloud, Sheila (Mike) West, Angie
(Tuff) Nichols, Robert Hill, grandchildren; Bailey, Michaela, and Caitlyn West,
Shane, Shawn, and Emma Nichols, Joshua Weddle, and Jordan Hill, brother;
Winston Alderman, sister; Eva Via, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins,
and friends. Vera made it clear to everyone that knew her, she loved God and her
family. She was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Floyd. Funeral
services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Grace Baptist Church in
Floyd with Pastor Steven Lackey officiating. Interment will follow at
Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday,
July 8, 2014 at Grace Baptist Church.
Max Earl Sweeney, 81, of Floyd, passed away
Thursday July 3, 2014. Max was a veteran of the United States Navy and served
in the Korean War. He is survived by his loving wife; Shirley Sweeney, sons;
David, Randy and Darrell Sweeney, grandchildren; Mikayla Sweeney, Rhiannon
Leebrick, Sarah Newton, Aaron Sweeney and Liam Sweeney, great grandchildren;
Maebel Johnson and Wyatt Newton, sisters; Daphine Sowers and Cindy Eanes,
brothers; Bruce, Barry and Doug Sweeney. Max had countless friends and loved
ones in the local music community. The family would like to thank the doctors
and all the staff at Springtree Health and Rehab Center for their excellent
care. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday July 6, 2014 at the Maberry
Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Doug Sweeney officiating. Interment will follow at
Jacksonville Cemetery with Military Rites by Floyd V.F.W. Post #7854 and
American Legion Post #127. The family will receive friends from noon to 2:00
p.m. prior to the service.
