Emogene Mae "Jean" Altizer


Emogene Mae “Jean” Altizer, 76, of Indian Valley, went to be with her Lord, Sunday, July 27, 2014 after a long illness. Jean was a very giving person who cherished her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was dearly loved by her husband and all her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elbert Harrison and Essie Frances Weeks Lester; brother Billy Alvin Lester; sisters Bonnie Lester Jarrells and Peggy Frances Lester; nephew Wayne Jarrells.
Left to cherish her memories is her loving and devoted husband Tazewell Altizer, daughter Vicky (Coby) Farmer, grandchildren Jason (Amanda) Farmer, Heather (Mark) Reynolds; great grandchildren Gideon Farmer and Ryla Reynolds; brothers Elbert Jr. “E.J.” (Florence) Lester, Benny Lee (Annie) Lester, Donald Monroe (Marie) Lester; nieces Betty Jarrells, Angie Willis, & Hannah Lester.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Pugh and the Rev. Matt Gore officiating. Interment to follow at the White Rock Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Ralph (Wayne) Hawley




Ralph (Wayne) Hawley, 66 of Pulaski, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Gordon & Iva Merle Vest Hawley; and grandson, Ryland Gordon Hawley. He was an avid NASCAR fan and raced back in the 60’s and early 70’s. Wayne never missed the opportunity to pull a prank or make someone laugh. These memories will be cherished forever.
He is survived by his wife Nancy Nixon Hawley; son & fianceƩ, Ralph Gordon Hawley & Pamela Lynn Walls; daughters & son-in-law, Heather Rustica & Anthony Wayne Crawford, Roxann Hawley, Dawn Martin; grandsons, Bradley Norford, Kyle Rowland; granddaughter, Kelly Hawley; great-granddaughter, Kaleigh Kendrick; brother & sister-in-law, Calvin & Helen Hawley; sisters & brothers-in-law, Melba Bower, Hazel & Gerald Link, Polly & Milo Simmons; aunt, June Vest; niece & nephews, Holly Sparrer, Mark Link, John Hawley, Timmy Bower, Jay Bower; special four-legged friend, his dog, Daisy Mae.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Calvin Hawley officiating. Interment will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the funeral home.

Sadie Marie Radford



Sadie Marie Radford, 79 of Floyd, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 14, 2014. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Radford; daughter, Alisa Radford; son, Danny Radford; granddaughter, Rebecca Sink; parents, Raymond & Loma Martin. She was a member of New Haven Baptist Church.



She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Paul & Debbie Radford; daughter, Jane Radford; brother & sister-in-law, Owen & Christine Martin; sisters & brother-in-law, Hazel Marshall, Judy Martin, Joyce & Arnold Duncan; grandchildren, Brandy McGuire & husband Thomas, Jessica Flick & husband Kevin, Joshua Radford, Katrina Hawks, Jade Hawks, Skyler Radford; great-grandchildren, Tres McGuire, Mac McGuire, Becca McGuire, Kylie Flick; special friend, Clynda Radford; and her beloved Bassett Hound, Chloe.


Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leon Wood officiating. Interment will follow in the Williams Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the funeral home.

Vera Alderman Moles

Vera Alderman Moles, 74, of Willis, passed over to her eternal resting place in Heaven on Saturday, July 5, 2014. She was born to the late Walter and Emma Alderman. Vera is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Junior Moles. She also leaves behind many to treasure all the love she gave, including children; Becky (Don) Cloud, Sheila (Mike) West, Angie (Tuff) Nichols, Robert Hill, grandchildren; Bailey, Michaela, and Caitlyn West, Shane, Shawn, and Emma Nichols, Joshua Weddle, and Jordan Hill, brother; Winston Alderman, sister; Eva Via, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Vera made it clear to everyone that knew her, she loved God and her family. She was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Floyd. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Grace Baptist Church in Floyd with Pastor Steven Lackey officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Grace Baptist Church.

Zelma Mae Thompson Spence



Zelma Mae Thompson Spence, 83 of Floyd, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014. She is preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley & Matte Clarice Moles Thompson; husband, John Paul Spence; and son, Gary Paul Spence.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons & daughter-in-law, Dwight D. Spence, Robert W. & Melissa W. Max Earl Sweeney

Max Earl Sweeney, 81, of Floyd, passed away Thursday July 3, 2014. Max was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in the Korean War. He is survived by his loving wife; Shirley Sweeney, sons; David, Randy and Darrell Sweeney, grandchildren; Mikayla Sweeney, Rhiannon Leebrick, Sarah Newton, Aaron Sweeney and Liam Sweeney, great grandchildren; Maebel Johnson and Wyatt Newton, sisters; Daphine Sowers and Cindy Eanes, brothers; Bruce, Barry and Doug Sweeney. Max had countless friends and loved ones in the local music community. The family would like to thank the doctors and all the staff at Springtree Health and Rehab Center for their excellent care. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday July 6, 2014 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Doug Sweeney officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery with Military Rites by Floyd V.F.W. Post #7854 and American Legion Post #127. The family will receive friends from noon to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
