Mary Ruth Marshall


The world lost and Heaven gained Mary Ruth Marshall, age 81, on Wednesday, August 25, 2021.

Mary Ruth was an avid reader, ever mindful of world events and well informed of the forecasted weather. She operated a dairy farm for many years. A gifted gardener with a green thumb and remarkable compassion for the welfare of animals and people alike, her love knew no boundaries. Mary was devoted to family, friends, and her farm. She possessed the special ability of making the people around her feel at ease. Her life leaves an indelible mark on this world.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lee & Virgie McPeak Stanley; brother, Cleo; husband, John; and son, Johnny Ray.

She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, William & Heather Marshall; daughter & son-in-law, Sandra & Timmy Phillips; grandsons, Cole and Chase Marshall and Brandon Phillips; sisters-in-law, Hazel Simpkins, Edith Marshall, Ocie McNeil, and Helen Young; Randy Phillips who was like a grandson; and many beloved cousins and treasured friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 30, 2021 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Poston officiating. Interment will follow in the Big Sand Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Carolyn Joann Harman

 

Carolyn “Joann” Harman, 54 of Willis, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. She is preceded in death by her son, Kevin Conner; and sister, Lois Ann Radford.

She is survived by her parents, William “Bo” & Ernestine Radford; special friend, D.J. Akers; sister & brother-in-law, Jennifer & Jeff Mcginnis; niece, Jolena Mcginnis; nephews, Jaden & Devin Mcginnis; and special cat, Precious.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2021 in the Williams Cemetery with Pastor Mike Bowman and Pastor Roy Turpin officiating.

Lewis W. Turner


Lewis W. Turner, 85 of Floyd, went Home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, August 3, 2021.

Lewis loved his family and bluegrass music, was a long-time member of Fairview Church of the Brethren, and retired from both Corning and Radford University.

His sweetheart wife, Janet, preceded him in death last summer. They are together again in Heaven.

Lewis is survived by his daughters, Leona Turner and Diane Keith; granddaughter, Callie Keith; sister, Christine McGuire; brother, Curtis Turner; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom reside in Floyd.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2021 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Jessica Dee Eanes


Jessica Dee Eanes, 37 of Check, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021. She is preceded in death by her father, Earsel Garland Eanes; and grandparents, Archie Gordon & Iva Gladys Eanes and Malcolm & Violet Manning.

Jessica was as unique as she was beautiful. She loved all people and animals. She was kind and gentle. Jessica was dearly loved by her grandpa and grandma Eanes. She is with them dancing and singing in the presence of our Heavenly Father. She is greatly missed by her mother and big brother. We know her body is brand new once more there in Heaven with Jesus and all those beautiful angels. We know she will be there at the Golden Gate of Heaven to greet us and we will once again see her beautiful face and big smile. We miss her dearly and look forward to the day we can feel her warmth and kindness. We have no doubt that she is now healthy in her Heavenly body rejoicing in Heaven with her grandpa, grandma, and daddy. 

She is survived by her mother, Brenda Manning; brother, George Hailey; nephew and niece, George and Gabriella Hailey; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.     

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Friday, August 6, 2021 at the funeral home.

Edvard Pucelj



Edvard Pucelj, 60, of Christiansburg, Virginia passed away at home on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. Edvard was born in Belgrade, Serbia, on February 7, 1961. He is preceded in death by his parents, Milan and Liliana Pucelj. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Emily Pucelj; son, Milan Pucelj; daughter, Adriana Pucelj; sister, Ana Pucelj; and his extended family. 

Edvard was someone who would help anyone in need, a backbone for his family and friends.  His strength carried him through until the very end. He never met a stranger and had a warm smile for everyone.  Edvard’s family was his entire world, always putting them first, a proud father of his two Hokies.  A hard worker who spent his life providing for those he loved the most. Even though his journey was cut short, he made a lasting impact on this world. He was a devout Catholic who was firm in his religion. His children say he was the definition of bravery, fighting every battle with a smile. Edvard spent half of his life living in Southeastern Europe, before coming to America.  Even though Serbian was Edvard’s predominant language, he learned English upon his arrival to America and became fluent very quickly.  His journey may have not started in America, but he made it his home and he truly loved this country.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, located at 367 S. Locust St. in Floyd, Virginia. Father John Asare will be conducting the funeral service at the Chapel, following the conclusion of the funeral service Edvard will be laid to rest at Jacksonville Cemetery in Floyd, Virginia. The family will receive friends and colleagues from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. before the service at the funeral home.

Edvard will be truly missed but never forgotten. Edvard will forever live in the hearts of his loved ones, and his extended family and friends.  We love you Eddie, and we will all miss you terribly.
