David Leaion Huff



David Leaion Huff, 73 of Floyd, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Frank and Margaret Elizabeth Underwood Huff; siblings, Clifford Clark, Edgar Clark, Silas Huff, Robert Huff, Erma Clark Brogen, Edna Clark Bower, Annie "Irene" Huff Midkiff, Flora Poad, Essie Bradham.
He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa McDaniel (John), Dena Wood (Dean); grandchildren, Ashlyn McDaniel, Dillon Wood (Lara), Drew Wood; sister, Fran Kraemer; brother, Glenwood Huff; special friends, Ovada Weeks, Mac Gallimore, Sheldon Sweeney, Johnny Mitchell.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2017 at the Maberry Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Darlene Marshall officiating. The interment will follow at the County Line church cemetery with full military rites by the Floyd V.F.W. Post #7854 and American Legion Post #127.

Mary Joyce Williams Walker

Mary Joyce Williams Walker, 84 of Stony Creek, VA went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 22, 2017.  
She is survived by her sons, Donnie R. Walker of Kannapolis, NC, James A. Walker of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Darnell W. Walker of Huntersville, NC; 6 Grandchildren; 8 Great-Grandchildren; special loved one, Julie Hopkins of Stony Creek, VA; host of nephews, nieces & cousins.
Funeral service will be held at Noon, Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Maberry Funeral Home with Elder Michael Preston and Dr. Rev. Clinton Crump officiating with interment in the Little River Cemetery.  Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to Noon prior to the service.

Helen Sue McAlexander Hawley


Helen Sue McAlexander Hawley, 64 of Pilot, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017.  She is preceded in death by her son, Calvin “Cully” Lee Hawley, Jr.; brothers- in-laws, Wayne Hawley and James Bower; mother-in-law & father-in-law, Merle & Ralph Hawley.

Helen was a devoted wife, mother and the “best” grandma.  She served alongside her husband as the church mother always giving of herself.  She enjoyed cooking and working in her flowers. No words can express what she meant to those who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Calvin Lee Hawley; son, John Hawley & wife Heather; parents, Archie & Lena McAlexander; brothers & sisters-in-law, Lane & Pam McAlexander, Billy & Lisha McAlexander, Steve & Wanda McAlexander; sisters & brothers-in-law, Mary & Terry Epperly, Dee & Eddie Shumate; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Nancy Hawley, Gerald & Hazel Link, Melba Bower, Polly & Milo Simmons; grandchildren, Trinity, Serenity, John, Harmony and Zachary Hawley; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Abundant Life Fellowship in Pilot with Pastor Calvin Hawley and Pastor Ray McDaniel officiating with interment in the Saint Matthew Cemetery.  Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 20, 2017 at the church. Linda Owens Duncan, 71 of Floyd, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017.  
She is survived by her husband, Dean Duncan; daughters, Andrea (Daniel) Burrell, Melodie (Mark) Cox, Tammie (Billy) Keith, Jennifer (Johnny) Boyd; grandchildren, Ben(Emily) Cox; Samantha (Alex) Fore, Ashley Keith, Dillon Cox, Allyson Burrell, Sarah Keith, Elizabeth Burrell; great-grandchildren, Bryson Early, Madison Cox; sister, Brenda (Beanie) Mills; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Duncan, Lorraine Smith, Loretta (Sonny) Miller.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 20, 2017 at Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren with Pastor Roy Turpin officiating.

Shirley Huff Sutphin, 69 of Willis, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Wendell Sutphin; son, Jerry Sutphin (Kim); daughter, Mary Blankenship (David); brothers, Jordon Huff (Bea), Joyce Huff, James Huff(Pat), Silas Huff (Diane); sisters, Janie Stevers (Gerald), Carolyn Rue(Bob), Mabelle Choudhurry (Sal); grandchildren, Caleb Blankenship(Cortney), Lydia Blankenship, Emma Blankenship.
Funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday November 18, 2017 at Maberry Funeral Home with Pastor Kenneth Poston officiating with interment in the Harris Cemetery.   Family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 17, 2017 at Maberry Funeral Home.

Grover Lawrence Martin

Grover Lawrence Martin, 75 of Willis, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017.
Grover was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He worked first in a furniture factory, then in a garment factory, on to the Powder Plant and then Virginia Highway department. The last 20 years Grover was a long distance driver for Overnite and then UPS. He loved to farm and was an excellent carpenter. He loved to be outside in God’s wonderful world. He loved God first always. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dock Lawrence and Ella Mae Smith Martin.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jackelene Q. Martin; son, Adrian Lawrence Martin; daughter, Lisa Lafon Barlow; grandchildren, Gracella Dawn Martin, Jesse Martin Barlow; step grandchildren. Bobby Caposio, Timmy Caposio; brother, Maynard Martin; sisters and brother-in-law, Frances Nester (Marvin), Bertha Marshall Baldwin; numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Pastor Gregory Poff officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Maberry Funeral Home prior to the service.

Norma Jean Weddle Lewis May



Norma Jean Weddle May, 76, of Frederick passed away November 9, 2017. She was the wife of Francis (Buddy) May. Born July 17, 1941, in Floyd County, Va., she was a daughter of the late Luther Norman and Iva Oneida Harmon Weddle. Norma Jean retired after 40 plus years from Department of Transportation for Montgomery County Schools.  She was a member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren. Norma Jean loved to travel and camp.  Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Proceeded in death by her parents Luther & Iva Oneida Harmon Weddle, her daughter, Angela Lynn Souders, her brother Norman Weddle and sisters, Mary Weddle Bush and Frances Weddle McDaniel.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Francis (Buddy) May, are one son, Gary Wayne Weddle & partner Esther Lowe of Falling Waters, West Virginia; daughters Tammy Jeannotte & partner Ed Gasper of Frederick, Carolyn & husband Rick Ingram of Jefferson, MD.; brothers, Arvin & Lynette Weddle of Winchester, VA, M. Ronald & Sylvia Weddle of Monrovia, MD; Grandchildren: Gary, Bradley, Matthew, Brandon, Courtney, Dale & Scott; 3 Great Grandchildren Amiya, Peyton & Dylan; numerous neices and nephews.

Viewing will be held from 2pm-5pm on
Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Stauffers Funeral Home – 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Hospice of Frederick County.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Topeco Cemetery with Rev. Roy Turpin officiating.
