John Fredrick Gerald, Sr.

John Fredrick Gerald Sr., 78, of Indian Valley, Va., passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. 

He is preceded in death by his dad, John Preston Gerald; mother, Ethel Costigan Gerald; and son, Shawn (Brent) Gerald.  

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Sutphin) Gerald; son, John Fredrick Gerald Jr. (Lisa); grandchildren, Emily Gerald, Lauren Gerald Moles (Austin), and Mackenzie Gerald; sisters-in-law, Wanda Gerald and Caroline Gerald; many nieces and nephews; and best friend, Clinton Hylton.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at the Indian Valley Church of God with the Rev. Kenneth Poston officiating.  Interment will follow in the Captain George Quesenberry Cemetery with Military Rites by the Army National Guard.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the Indian Valley Church of God.

Larry Greene Keith

Larry Greene Keith, 78 of Vesta, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019. He is preceded in death  by his parents, Una Ray & Ida Ethel Boyd Keith; six brothers; and three sisters.

He is survived by his brother & sisters-in-law; Gene & Arlene Keith and Sylvia Keith of Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at the Boyd Cemetery.

Mary Ann Joyce, 69 of Floyd, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019. As per her request, no public services will be held.

David Clifton Lindsey

David Clifton Lindsey, 20 of Floyd, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2019.

He is survived by his parents, Angela & Richard Hollandsworth, and David Lindsey & Darlene Underwood; siblings, Heather Copp, Debera Alarcon (Charles), Laken Hollandsworth (Corey Foster), and Dakota Hollandsworth; beloved dog, Copper; and a host of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, a nephew, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Greg Poff officiating. Interment will follow in the Captain George Quesenberry Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the funeral home.

Sonny Lee Miller

Sonny Lee Miller, 78 of Riner, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Loretta Duncan Miller; parents, Robert & Pearl Barker Miller; siblings; Robert Charles (R.C.) Miller, James Allen (Carey) Miller, Marie Phillips, and Merl Flinchum; and special brother-in-law, Loman Smith.

Sonny was a very generous, caring, hard-working, and loving man who never met a stranger.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Pamela Ingram (Robert), Garret Miller (Sally), Nathan Miller (Tracey), Lydia Thomas (Michael), and Gregory Miller (Sharon); grandchildren, Devon Lunsford, Ethan Miller, Treavor Miller, Stella Miller, Simon Thomas, Jessica Harman, Jonathan Miller, Kerrie Miller, India Eanes, and Phillip Stuart; great-grandchildren, Dalton Thomas, Madison Thomas, Ezekiel Eanes, and Landen Stuart; brother, William “Billy” Cecil Miller; sister-in-law, Lorraine Smith; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved pet, Sundrop.

Funeral service will be held at Noon on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stanley “Shake” Smith. Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. - Noon prior to the service at the funeral home.
