Claudine Elaine Quesenberry

 

Claudine Elaine Quesenberry, 74 of Floyd, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, Branson & Reva Graham; and siblings, Bill Graham, Catherine Sutphin, Ray Graham, and Ralph Graham.

She loved deer hunting, spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Mack Quesenberry; children, Wayne & Cathy Quesenberry and Marie & Mike Simpkins; grandchildren, Jodie Vaughn & Shawn Shearing, Travis & Mikayla Quesenberry, Ashley Vaughn, and Cody & Morgan Quesenberry; great-grandchildren, Zaine Shearing, Collins Quesenberry, and Hollis Quesenberry; sister, Margie Morris; honorary sons, Bruce Lytton & Karen Barnhart and Steve & Pat Sutphin; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren with Pastor Marvin Wade officiating. Interment will follow in Beaver Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until Noon prior to the service at the church.

Russell Thurman Ingram

 

Russell Thurman Ingram, 81 of Floyd, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, Uriah & Eunice Ingram; and sister, India Moore.

He is survived by his sons & daughters-in-law, Richard R. & Kimberly Ingram, Wesley T. & Bonita Ingram, James M. & Jeaneen Ingram, and Joseph P. Ingram; grandchildren, Brian R. Ingram (Ashley), Amber R. Ingram, Brittany M. Ingram (Jess), Danielle N. Ingram, Jolie R. Ingram, Jordan R. Ingram, and Jonah M. Ingram; and sister, Eleanor Whitlock.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2022 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Roy Turpin officiating. Interment will follow in the Stonewall Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Archie Washington McAlexander

Archie Washington McAlexander, 89 of Pilot, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 26, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, General & Minnie McAlexander; brother, Arthur McAlexander; two siblings; loving daughter, Helen Hawley; and a grandson, Calvin Hawley, Jr.

Dad was a Floyd County farmer, who loved his farm and cattle.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lena McAlexander; two daughters, Mary (Terry) Epperly and Dee (Eddie) Shumate; three sons, Lane (Pam) McAlexander, Billy (Lisha) McAlexander, and Steve (Wanda) McAlexander; son-in-law, Calvin (Nancy) Hawley; special friend considered as a daughter, Christie McDaniel; 16 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Donald) West; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Noon on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Abundant Life Fellowship Church, Pilot, VA with Pastor Ray McDaniel, Pastor Calvin Hawley, and Pastor Leon Alley officiating. Interment will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until Noon prior to the service at the church.

James Kevin Stokes

 


James Kevin Stokes, 62 of Copper Hill, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022. He is preceded in death by his father, James Emmitt Stokes; and brother, Michael Joseph Stokes.

He is survived by his wife, Robin Marie Stokes; children, Jaysen Lee (Catherine) Stokes, Joshua Alan Stokes, and Megan Marie (Jacob) Kaufmann; mother, Patricia Ann Stokes; brother and sisters, Theresa Ann Hourigan, David Franklin Stokes, and Diane Francise Flatt; grandchildren, Aidan Hunter Stokes, Isabelle Rebecca Stokes, Anthony Isaac Stokes, and Ellie Marie Kaufmann; father-in-law, Harlie Hicks; sister-in-law, Sharon Reed; favorite dog, Lupin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at the All Saints Roman Catholic Church with Father Herman officiating. Entombment will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke, VA. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, November 25, 2022 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel.

Clenon Gay Quesenberry Turman

 

Clenon Gay Quesenberry Turman, born February 9, 1929, entered her heavenly home on Monday, November 14, 2022, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.  She was the youngest of 6 children born to Gordon and Caroline Quesenberry in Willis, Virginia.  Clenon was a lifelong resident of the Shady Grove Community.  She subsequently married the love of her life, Alvin C. Turman, who she has gone on to meet once again. 

Three children were born to this union, Zelda, Frances and Tommy.  In later years, Clenon hosted a much larger family, and was proud to live to see five generations. 

Clenon was known as a caring and giving person. She made sure that anyone she met was well-cared for.  She was a lifelong and respected elder member of Shady Grove Church and she attended school during her formative years in the same building in which she later worshipped. 

Clenon is predeceased by her husband, Alvin; her parents, Gordon and Caroline; her sisters, Alma Q. Wade, Dovie Q. Phillips, and Lula Q. Phillips; and her brothers, Chester Quesenberry and Hoy Quesenberry. 

She is survived by daughters, Zelda Quesenberry (Richard) and Frances Burnette; her son, Tommy Turman, all of the Shady Grove Community; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Clenon will be greatly missed by her family and her community, but her strong spirit and love will live on in the many that were blessed to meet and know her.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joel Cox and Pastor Randy Sutphin officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2022 at the funeral home.

Henry Alvin Dalton

 

Henry Alvin Dalton, 83 of Indian Valley, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Velma Dalton; brother, Vencil “Boomer” Dalton; and nephew, Mark Woollums.

He is survived by his daughter, Denise Stilwell (Dennis); granddaughter, Holly Stilwell (Zack Boyd); brother, Cephas Dalton (Paige); sister, Arnedia Woollums (Troy); brother-in-law, Mike Branscome; and sisters-in-law, Wilma Dalton, Lois Bond (Gerald), and Janet Hudson.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at the William Quesenberry Cemetery with Pastor Roy Turpin officiating and Military Rites by Grover King Post 1115 and the Army National Guard.

Andrea Thompson

 

Andrea Thompson, age 90, of Floyd, VA, peacefully passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Andrea was born on January 30, 1932 to Andrew and Gula Tyler in South Kortright, NY. She was one of five sisters living and working on a dairy farm in upstate New York. In 1956 Andrea married the love of her life, Alan. Andrea and Alan had 5 children; Timothy (Nancy), Steve (Peggy), Carol, Karen (Phil), and Jon (Eva), 14 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

In 1985, Andrea and Alan moved to Floyd and started a Christmas tree farm, Thompson Tree Farm. Andrea and Alan shared a wonderful and loving life together, enjoying the outdoors and travel, and spending time with family on the farm.

Andrea was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Gula, and her sisters Jenny, Margaret, and Kathleen. She is survived by her husband, Alan, her sister Betty, and her five children.

A Memorial Service for Andrea will be held at Floyd United Methodist Church on Friday, November 18, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Timothy Hale officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service.

Contributions in memory of Andrea may be made to Floyd United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, or to Good Samaritan Hospice.

Leslie Dean Dulaney


Leslie Dean Dulaney, 74 of Radford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning November 9, 2022 at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Dean was born February 23, 1948 in Christiansburg, Virginia and was the son of the late Leslie B. Dulaney and Vera Bishop Dulaney Sale. He was also the step-son of the late Frank Sale.

Dean was a graduate of Christiansburg High School. He was an avid NASCAR fan, history buff and could remember everyone’s birthday and age. He loved spending the last ten years of his life at Noble Senior Living (English Meadows). He enjoyed helping out and had many friends there.

Dean is survived by his sister, Jan Murphy (Warren); niece, Alison Wickersham (Richard); and uncle and aunt, Gene and Nancy Bishop. He is also survived by step-sister, June Walker (Jimmy); step-brother, David Sale (Karen); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family would like to extend a very special thanks to his Aunt Judy Sale and her daughters Patti Hall and Margie Gilmer for their unending kindness, care, and love over the past ten years.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Roy Turpin officiating. Interment will follow in the Beaver Creek Cemetery.

Floyd (Tim), and Travis Jones; great-grandchildren, Penelope Floyd and Cora Floyd; and sisters & brother-in-law, Delores & Harry Craft and Judy Bunn.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2022 at the Floyd United Methodist Church with Rev. Timothy Hale and Rev. Richard Gregory officiating. Interment will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

Preston Eugene Hatcher, 95 of Floyd, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022.

He is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Robert & Linda Hatcher; granddaughters, Karen West (Kevin) and Vicky Diamond (Clinton); and great-grandchildren, Sarah Siegfried (Andrew), Michael Bearden, Natasha Bearden, John Diamond, Hunter Diamond, and Kaitlyn Diamond.

William Dwyane Hairston, 61 of Floyd, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022. He is preceded in death by his mother, Stella Mae Parker; father, Nathaniel T. Claytor; sister, Carolyn Sue Fontaine; niece, Sarah Elizabeth Carroll; and nephew, Christopher Paul Hairston.

Dwyane is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Hairston; daughter, Khrystina Hairston; sons, Eric VanBuren & Chris VanBuren; brothers & sister-in-law, Darrell & Crystal Parker and James Parker; grandchildren, Kaelani Stephens and Alice VanBuren; and nieces & nephews, Samantha Hill, Kimani Parker, Sierra Britcher, DJ Parker, Shawna Parker, Zakota King, Cameron Parker, and Javon Parker.

A memorial service will be held at Noon on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the Little River Missionary Baptist Church.
