Roger Lee Phillips

Roger Lee Phillips, 83 of Floyd, met his Savior on Monday, February 4, 2025.  He is preceded in death by his parents, John Brady and Odell Phillips; siblings, Chester Phillips (Edith), Claburn Phillips, Harold Phillips, Paul Phillips, Jo Ann Kingrea (Albert), Willie Phillips, Geneva Smith, Curtis Phillips and Elwood Phillips; brother-in-law, Dorsie Montgomery; sisters-in-law, Annie Phillips, Sandy Phillips, Noble Phillips and Bea Ann Phillips.

He is survived by the loving mother of his children, Modene Quesenberry; daughters, Andrea Phillips and Karen Harris; granddaughter, Shawna Conner (Dustin); three great-grandchildren he adored, Emberlee, Benji and John-Brady Conner; siblings, Bobby Phillips (Sylvia), Clarence Phillips, Jackie Phillips (Alice), Reba Montgomery, Ronald Phillips and Timmy Phillips (Sandra); sister-in-law, Oleda Phillips; and brother-in-law, Ronald Smith.

On a Saturday night you would find him enjoying music at Wildwood Farm. He was most proud of his granddaughter and great-grandchildren, who he would proudly show pictures of everywhere he went. When Roger was too young to even drive, he drove a dump truck in the coal mines of West Virginia with his dad and brothers. He went to work at Donnkenny as the manager of the cutting room where he worked for 35 years. He started working at Legacy Linens in Floyd in 2001 where he was still employed.

Roger was always a hard worker, he enjoyed yard work and was never afraid of manual labor. Just this fall and winter, you could find him outside mowing, shoveling, raking and carrying leaves. Not too long ago he was seen at the rock quarry shoveling rocks into his pickup truck to work on his driveway. He was a devoted member of Graysontown New Life Ministries with Pastor Justin Quesenberry. After church he regularly drove by to visit his great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2025 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Justin Quesenberry and Pastor Kenneth Poston officiating. Interment will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Hubert Roy Harman

Hubert Roy Harman, 96 of Check, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025.  He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Lou Poff Harman; and daughter Sandi Lou Harman. 

He is survived by his sons, Jem Harman of Roanoke and Joe Harman of Kansas City; grandsons, Bryce Harman (Tessia) and Brian Harman (Nicole); granddaughter, Kari Harman; great-grandsons, Mason Harman, Adric Harman and Archie Harman; sisters, Fern Harris, Willadean Hylton, Phyllis Thompson, and Jewell Spickard (Joe); brothers, Buster Hodges and Ewell Hodges (Linda); and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Hubert was born in Willis, Va and spent much of his youth on his grandfather’s farm while his uncles were off to war. After graduating from Willis High School in 1945 he attended Coyne Trade school in Chicago where he completed electrical training. Returning home he wired many of the older houses in Floyd County for electricity the first time.

He married Mary Lou Poff and moved to her home in Check where he took care of her mother’s farm. He was one of the earliest employees at the General Electric plant in Salem, Va. He worked there for 30 years. After retiring from GE he continued to run the farm, as well as expanding the number of new homes he wired. 

Hubert enjoyed grouse hunting and spent many hours with his dog hunting in the hills and valleys around Check. He also loved fishing in Nags Head with friends from Floyd County and others he met.

His friends found his unpredictable, disarming sense of humor enjoyable. The nursing staff commented that he never lost that during his last days.

Hubert’s family wishes to thank those in Check and the surrounding area who visited frequently and took him out for sightseeing rides and meals. An extra special thanks to those living near him who brought him food, friendship and watched out for his forays in lawn mowing, weed whacking and other antics.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerry Hylton officiating. Interment will follow in the Restvale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Carlis Marvin Hale

Carlis Marvin Hale, 79 of Blue Ridge, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, February 02, 2025. 

Carlis was born to Cebert and Algie Conner Hale in Floyd County, Virginia. He was one of seven children. He spent most of his adult life in Blue Ridge, Virginia. He was an entrepreneur and enjoyed buying and repairing rental properties. He retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad after over 30 years of service.

He was considered by those who knew him as kind, caring, giving and a neighbor to all.

Carlis is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Edgar and Vannie Sue Hale; nieces, Becky Owens, Martha Beckner, Connie Wade, Teresa Gibson, Sue Justice, Carol Cladwell, Durene Chavarria; nephews, James Hale, Amos Hale, Michael Goad, Ricky Goad, William Goad, Samuel Hale; sister-in-law, Brenda Hale; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Spencer officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Janet E. Slusher

 Janet E. Slusher, 78 of Copper Hill, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents, JM “Pete” & Irene Harris; and brothers, Maurice Harris and Carl Harris.

She is survived by her fiancé, Howard Meredith; son, Jason Slusher (Stacy Bishop); daughters, Sherry Yopp and Lora Slusher (Brad Mullins); grandchildren, Acacia Freeman, TalaMaya Freeman, Rhiannon Mullins, Conner Cox (Robert Hylton), Chevy Cox, Matthew Slusher (Laura Cox) and Josh Slusher; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Diana Weddle Burton

 

Diana Weddle Burton, 71 of Dublin, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents, Talmadge “Tap” & Edna Weddle; and brother, Tom “Dozer” Weddle.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Richard Burton; son, Todd Boothe; daughter, Whitney Branscome; step-daughter, Nikki Hubbard; grandchildren, Keegan Boothe, Carter Boothe, Kameron Boothe, Miranda Whittaker, McKenzie Clark, James Clark, Bronyne Hubbard, and Aaron Hubbard;  great-granddaughter, Mallory Gray; brother, Lester Weddle; special cousin, Glen Duncan; two nieces;  one nephew; and Special Son, Brian Fralin.

Diana will be remembered by all as the “Princess House Lady.”

Billy Brammer

 

Billy Brammer, 94, of Floyd, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, January 13, 2025. He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Iva Brammer.

Billy’s life was completely devoted to his Lord. He served as a deacon and Sunday School Teacher for many years at New Haven Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his children, Phyllis & Robert Hall, Marvin Brammer, Michael & Melissa Brammer, Paula & Ronald DeHart and Brendan Iribe & Luisa Espinosa; grandchildren, Ben Hall (Kelly), Joel Hall (Kendra), Tiffany Moore (Joey), Savannah Brammer, Jackson Brammer, Jameson Brammer, Jacob Haus, Christina Branson (Michael), Alexis Valerga (Shelton) and Amelia Iribe; step-grandchildren, Eric, Mark, Pam and Amy; great-grandchildren, Brookelyn, Dylan, Madelyn, Jocelyn, Tinsley, Aiden, Aubree, Levi, Ethan, Landon, Rylee and Lincoln; numerous step great-grandchildren; and sister & brother-in-law, Sue & Rev. Ronald Young. 

Billy loved being a farmer. At the age of 15, he left Floyd to go work on a dairy farm. After many years of milking cows, he then went into beef farming. He enjoyed mowing and raking hay, even at the age of 93. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at New Haven Baptist Church with Pastor Allen Agee officiating. Interment will follow in the Cannaday Cemetery.

Axten Xavier Bullins

Axten Xavier Bullins, one day old, of Indian Valley. went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 10, 2025.

He is survived by his parents, Christopher Bullins & Brittany Vaught; and brother, Jimmy Bullins.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Roy Turpin officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. A private interment will be held.

Joyce Ann Linville

 

Joyce Ann Linville, 71 of Willis, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, William K. Linville; and sister, Janet Brand.

Per Joyce’s wishes, there will be no services held.

Josephine Helen Bain

 

Josephine Helen Bain, 82 of Check, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. She is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Francis Bain, Jr.; and siblings, Anderson Guynn, Wiley Guynn, William Guynn, Beulah Goad, Bonnie Bonds, Nonnie Bain, and Viola Ayers.

She is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, David Lee Guynn, Floyd Lane Bain, Charles Edward & Erica Bain, and Bobby Wayne & Sarah Bain; daughter, Maria Hancher; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Jessie Guynn; brother-in-law, Dale Bain; sisters-in-law, Deborah & Jimmy Bowyer and Cathy & Charlie Hall; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cobern Ralph Quesenberry

 

Cobern Ralph Quesenberry, 95, of Floyd, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024. He is preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Louise Shelton Quesenberry; parents, Elmer Lee & Edna Melinda Phillips Quesenberry; brother & sister-in-law, Harless & Virgie Quesenberry; sisters & brothers-in-law, Iressa & Morgan Fawcett, Pauline Rosa & John Stout, and Winnie Vaughn; and granddaughter, Cynthia G. Holland.

He is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Larry D. & Nancy Quesenberry; daughter & son-in-law, Donna Q. & Rodney Gardner; sisters-in-law, Irene S. Dalton and Zula M. Cornelia Stuart Couch

 

Cornelia Stuart Couch, 79 of Vinton, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Martha Price Stuart; siblings, Henry Lee Price, Pearl Stuart, Hawthorne Stuart, William Stuart, Wilfred Stuart, and Wanda Stuart; and daughter, Vanessa Couch Granger.

She is survived by her children, Keith Stuart (Keena), Tracy Reitnauer (Lloyd), Teresa Drakeford, and Johnny “Butch” Couch (Angie Pelfrey); grandchildren, Danny Stuart, Phillip Stuart, India Eanes (Ethan), Demario Smith (Sharon), Donnell Smith, Amari Drakeford, and Tyson Couch; brother, Matthew Stuart (Debra); sisters, Virginia King (Johnny Smith), Martha Saunders, Helen Moore, and Barbara Stuart; numerous nieces and nephews.

Pauline Harris Hodges

 

Pauline Harris Hodges, 91 of Willis, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Raleigh Kenneth Hodges; an infant daughter, Rebecca K. Hodges; parents, Jethro & Martha Harris; and brothers and sisters, Oden Harris, Archie Harris, Oscar Harris, Lita High, Alma Baker, Carlos Harris, Mamie Harris, and Miles Harris.

Pauline was an avid quilter and loved sharing her work with everyone. She had quilts displayed all over the world. 

She is survived by her sons, Mark H. Hodges (Ginny Stammetti) and Michael K. Hodges (Donna); grandchildren, Brandon Hodges (Angela), Rahim A. Chantal (Gema), Amy Sue Canfield (Justin), and Andrew S. Hodges (Tabitha); ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024 in the Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Elder Tim Whitten officiating.

Shirley Ann Spangler Barlow

 

Shirley Ann Spangler Barlow, 82, formerly of Bassett, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024 at her home in Floyd County. She is preceded in death by her husband, Franklin D. Barlow; parents, George Daniel & Agnes Moore Spangler; brothers and sisters, Edith Yates (Bill), Ruby Bell (Bob), Ray Spangler (Geraldine), baby brother and best friend, Tommy Spangler, Robert “Bobby” Spangler (Betty), Junior Spangler (Ruth), Marie Shark (Clarence), Ralph Spangler (Peggy), and Arnold Spangler; and special niece, Becky Cales.

She is survived by her daughter, Debby Barlow; many other nieces and nephews; and special cat, Little Chrissy.  

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 in the Piedmont Cemetery with Pastor Warren Bumgarner officiating.

Erma "Ruth" Pauley Thompson

Erma “Ruth” Pauley Thompson, 92, entered her heavenly home on Saturday, December 7, 2024, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Ruth’s life was completely devoted to God and her family. Ruth was a 1950 graduate of Floyd High School, and also graduated from West Virginia Business College. She had been a member of Floyd Baptist Church since 1962. For many years she was the Sunday School teacher for the four year old class. She also gave freely of her lovely  soprano voice as a member of the church choir for over 50 years.

Ruth was a meticulous housekeeper, always busy. She was a superior seamstress. She loved her family. She always made Christmas fun by having everyone go on a scavenger hunt with clue after clue until a present was discovered at the end. That tradition has been carried over to several homes in the family. Ruth was also active in the quilting group, Christian Women of Floyd County. She hemmed over 1,500 quilt tops over the years to be donated to those in need.

“Ruthie” as she was known to many children, provided childcare for over 250 children in Floyd. She provided this service for about 35 years. The children she kept adored her, and it was reciprocal. She was always ready to read to a child, or help someone at the piano who was just beginning to learn how to play. She provided many life lessons each day to everyone she encountered. Most of the time, there was a scripture quote that went along with what she was trying to get across. As her mother before her, Ruth knew the Bible inside out.

Ruth was born at home, near the Haycock community outside Floyd on November 23, 1932. She was the youngest child of Oatley Burke Pauley and Virginia Alice Cockram Pauley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bain A. Thompson; four sisters, Aldene Pauley, Ercel P. Murray, Christine P. Patterson, and Mildred P. Lloyd; two brothers,  William “Bud” Pauley and Norman Pauley.

Ruth is survived by her three children and their spouses, David (Angela) Thompson, Floyd, Paula (Bruce) Smith, Copper Hill, and Darrell (Sheila) Thompson, Floyd; six grandchildren and their spouses, Amanda (Alex) Wilkens, Christiansburg, Robert Bain (Colleen) Smith, Roanoke, Katie Smith (fiancé Mitch Caudill), Blacksburg, Marlena (Caleb) Chaffin, Floyd, Christopher (Kelly) Thompson, Catawba, and Andrew (Susanna) Thompson, Radford; and ten great-grandchildren, Rylan Chaffin, Kyleigh Chaffin, Demitrious Dyer, Aubrey Chaffin, Beckham Wilkens, Asher Chaffin, Nora Smith, Evelyn Ruth Thompson, Warren Thompson, and Wyatt Smith.

The family would like to thank members of the Medi Home Hospice for their wonderful help with Ruth.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 13, at 1:00 p.m. at Floyd Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Semones, Rev. Dan Agee, and Rev. Joe Womack officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Burial Ground.

Tracey Lynn Miller

 

Tracey Lynn Miller gained her angel wings on Thursday, December 5th, 2024.

Tracey was born on June 23, 1975 in Hammond, Indiana. She had lived in several places to include Phoenix, Arizona and her home of Floyd, Virginia. Tracey loved to travel and see different parts of the world. Her smile and laughter were contagious. Tracey never met a stranger and showed love to everyone.

Tracey is survived by her husband, Nathan Miller. She had four children of her own, Devon, Ethan, Trevor, and Stella, but also was a mother figure for so many children including 24 foster children that had been blessed to come through her home on their journey. Tracey is also survived by her loving mother, Phyllis Simmons. She also leaves behind many friends to remember her.

A celebration of life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Varner officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. A celebration of life will be planned in the spring to celebrate Tracey’s wishes of a memorial garden.

Dorsie Everett Montgomery

 

Dorsie Everett Montgomery, 78, of Indian Valley, entered into his Heavenly Home on Sunday December 1, 2024, leaving behind his loving wife of 58 years, Reba. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank (Buster) & Allie Montgomery; brothers, Ernie, Willie, Carlos and Billy Montgomery; and sisters, Ivory Combs, Rosie Phillips, Bessie Huff, Sylvia Turpin, Lorene Janney and Lucille Gallimore.

Dorsie served in the United States Army from December 1965 until December 1967. He worked for Lynchburg Foundry for 37 years before retiring. Dorsie was a very hard and dedicated worker. He loved working on cars in his younger years. He and Reba loved going on trips to Tennessee to see the antique cars that he loved so well. His favorite was his 50 Ford. He loved the outdoors, gardening and carpentry. Dorsie was a quiet man, with not a lot to say. He had a big heart and was willing to help anyone he could. He loved to do things for people without them knowing, or any recognition. He also loved to watch NASCAR and going to races in his younger years. He loved animals and watching his game cameras. Christmas was his favorite time of the year, he loved putting up the lights and decorations for everyone to enjoy. Dorsie loved the Lord and he attended Indian Valley Church of God faithfully for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Reba Phillips Montgomery; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Ramsey Gallimore, Bobby & Sylvia Phillips, Roger Phillips, Clarence Phillips, Jackie & Alice Phillips, Ronald Phillips, Timmy & Sandra Phillips, Jo Phillips, Oleta Phillips and Ronald Smith; and many nieces and nephews. Dorsie was a very loved man and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024 in the Indian Valley Church of God with Rev. Kenneth Poston and Rev. Mike Bond officiating. Interment will follow in the Captain George Quesenberry Cemetery with Military Rites by the Army National Guard. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Hilda Bea Simpson Harmon

 

Hilda Bea Simpson Harmon, 94, of Floyd, passed away at her home on Sunday, December 1, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband, James E. Harmon; and her parents, Willard and Garnett Simpson. 

Hilda grew up in Check where her parents ran the general store and cannery. She worked in both. She married Jim in 1949 and they moved to Willis where Jim and his brother, Fred, ran the Gulf Station. Later, Jim and Hilda bought the general store in Willis and ran it until 1978. They sold the store and moved to Floyd. She loved reading and was very active in Friends of the Library. Her church, Floyd United Methodist Church, was an important part of her life. Her desire to go into nursing led her to Skyline Manor where she held the job of Activities Director and later was a CNA. She continued this last job into her 80’s. Her love of books led her to writing one of her own. The Little Girl Who Loved Names was published in 2024.

Hilda is survived by her children, Sunny and Bob Popp, Jamie and Debbie Harmon, Cappy and Tommy Spangler, and Jolee and John Crawford; her grandchildren who called her “Molly”, Angie and Tuff Nichols, Travis and Kristin Crawford, Katie Popp and Mike Disch, Amanda and Marc Hanna, Maggie Popp and Scooter Thweatt, Ben and Lindsay Johnson, Caleb and Rose Johnson, Nathan Popp, Conner Johnson, Jessica and Adam Stebar, Ashley and Chad Scott, Dakota and Tate Stinnett, Tucker and Nicole Crawford, and Austin and Katelyn Spangler; great-grandchildren, Shane and Mary, Shawn and Miah, Emma and Jesse, Dayson, Harmon, Alyssa, Kara, Karoline, Lemuel, Raina, Bjorn, Lars, Ace, Cecilia, Bea, Chloie, Sydney, Jemmasen, Layla, Emry, Penny, Hannah, Macy, Ellie, Bella, Aspen, Maren, Sage, Wilder, Hank, Carson, and Parker; great-great-grandchildren, Ivy and Stetson. She was also blessed with two special neighbors, Wanda Nolen and Beth Rhodes Turner.

Mack "Mac" Arthur Gallimore

Mack (Mac) Arthur Gallimore, 82, died at his home in Narrows on November 29, 2024. Mac's journey into this life began with his birth on June 13, 1942, to parents Leslie and Corneila Gallimore, in Floyd.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Lillian (Lilly) Gallimore; daughter, Lesley Ann Mitchell (Jeff); granddaughter, Miah Grace; stepson, Jerry Riley (Amy); step-grandchildren, Nichole, Ivy, and Jake; as well as step-great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Luke, Katie, Elyssa, and Erica.

Other survivors include his three brothers, Chester (Carol) and Dale (Barbara) Gallimore, both of Floyd and Donald (Ara) Gallimore of Christiansburg. Mac also leaves behind many nieces and nephews including one special nephew who was always there for him, Eddie Dale Gallimore, of Christiansburg.

Over his lifetime, Mac worked many jobs but felt his biggest accomplishment was opening New River Supply in Narrows with his dad L.A. Gallimore.

Mac's life was centered around classic cars, with his favorite make being Chevrolet. He had a fleet of antique cars and was always on the lookout for another trophy to add to his collection. Mac was also an avid follower of NASCAR and from memory could tell you every driver and the kind of car they drove.

In addition to his love of classic cars, Mac was also a big sports fan. He loved to follow the Virginia Tech Hokies and in his younger days, he played several sports including high school basketball. Mac was also an accomplished skier.

Those fortunate enough to know him will testify that he was a man who felt deeply for friends and family and will sorely be missed by both. For those with a classic car and able to attend please consider driving it to the service in tribute to Mac.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 in Beaver Creek Church with Pastor Hebron Quesenberry and Pastor Eddie Dale Gallimore officiating. Interment will follow in the Beaver Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel.

Dixie Lee Mitchell

 

Dixie Lee Mitchell, 83, of Willis, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024. She is preceded in death by her son, Lonnie Allen Mitchell.

Dixie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and a devoted Christian.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Otto Richard Mitchell; son, Richard Mitchell (Brenda); daughters, Christine Snider (Lacy, Sr.) and Connie Stollar; grandchildren, Seth, Kay, Jennifer, and Lacy, Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Ben, Audrey, Kolbi, and Coleson.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024 in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Foster Freelin Quesenberry

Foster Freelin Quesenberry, 94, of Indian Valley VA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on November 24th, 2024. He was preceded in death by infant grandson, Jamie Lafon Alley; and his beloved wife of 69 years, Ledlie Velma Huff Quesenberry.

Foster was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and was known far and wide for his uncanny ability to fix anything that had a motor. His self-taught knowledge of cars and trucks, especially his beloved Fords, rivaled any mechanic in the world. He worked diligently for many years keeping various businesses equipment running and was well known to be quick with a good story…most that were true! Foster was a simple man, who never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand. He was larger than life and will be missed by all who had the good fortune to cross paths with him. They truly don’t make them like him anymore.

Left to cherish his memory are his four daughters, Barbara J. Marshall, Lois Morgan (Harold), Melinda Phillips (Kevin), Wanda Alley (Rocky), all of Indian Valley; seven grandchildren, April M. Byrd of Christiansburg, Amanda Duncan (Shawn) of Indian Valley, Misty Johnson (Elliott) of Roanoke, Grace Duncan (Christopher) of Indian Valley, Samuel Phillips (Audrey) of Christiansburg, Isaac Phillips (Kim) of Willis, and Faith Harris (Isaac) of Floyd; seven great-grandchildren, Luke and Lilly Duncan, Nalani and Miles Johnson, Tinley and Ariella Duncan, and Hazel Harris.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Poston and Pastor Rocky Huff officiating. Interment will follow in the Cox Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like extend a special thank you to the Carilion New River Valley Medical Center Staff, Floyd County Rescue Squad, and to Kelly Hill for going above and beyond with her compassionate care. We are grateful to all that visited and called Foster, he cherished everyone.
