Ava Reda Underwood Wells



Ava Wells, 93 of Christiansburg, a Floyd native, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 13, 2017.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty seven years, Maynard Wells; her parents, Claude and Sally Underwood; sisters and brothers, Ollie Thomas, Ruby Agnew, Zella Weddle, Gilbert Underwood and Tom Underwood.

Ava is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Mike Barnett of Christiansburg; special grandsons and spouses, Derek and Tabitha Barnett of Christiansburg and Josh and Melissa Barnett of Shrewsbury, NJ; two great-granddaughters, Maddy and Sloane Ava; sister, Larma Harman of Martinsville; many nieces and nephews that have been a huge part of her life.
Ava spent most of her life working on a farm and at Imperial Reading (Overall Factory).  After her retirement she kept busy by going on trips with her sisters and nieces and taking care of her grandsons.  She was a member of Mt. Elbert Methodist Church and later on became a part of the Fieldstone Methodist Church Community.
Ava enjoyed the outdoors.  She loved going on walks and to yard sales with her close buddies, VT Kanode and Virginia Mullins.
Special thanks to Dr. Gregory Beato, nurse Molly and many others at Medical Associates of Southwest Virginia, Gentiva Home Health Care, especially Mary Ellen and Krista and the Good Samaritan Hospice Care family including Mollie, Lori, Kim, Ashley, Debbie and Darlene.
Several extra special caregivers helped take care of Ava during her final weeks of her life, Donna Bishop, Tabitha Barnett, Sue Vest, Reba Goff….big thanks to them.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Maberry Funeral Home with Pastor Jonathan Page and Pastor J.D. Harman officiating with interment in the Jacksonville Cemetery.  Family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, September 15, 2017.
