Etsuko Boothe, 35 of Floyd, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017.She is preceded in death by her grandparents,
Henry & Etsuko Wesley and Lois Bessinger.
She is
survived by her husband, Todd Boothe; mother, Susan Trendler and step-father
Thomas Trendler; sons, Keegan Boothe and Carter Boothe; daughter, Kameron
Boothe; brothers, Jonathan Wesley, Thomas Whittle, Joseph Whittle; sister,
Paige Wesley; grandfather, Paul Andrew Bessinger, Jr. seven nieces; five
nephews.
Funeral will
be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Burks Fork Church of the
Brethren with Pastor Mike Battle officiating.Family will receive friends Noon to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
William
Matthew Keith, 49 of Floyd, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017. He was a
member of Little River Baptist Church. He enjoyed his last year as a part time
employee of the Floyd Pharmacy delivering medicine to the shut in, who
brightened his days. He was dedicated to his family and always willing to do
anything for anyone who needed him.
He was
preceded in death by his father, Fredrick William Keith.
He is survived
by his wife, Diane Keith; mother, Margaret Keith; son, Brandon; daughter,
Callie Keith; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas “Mike” Keith (Vicki); sister
and brother-in-law, Lisa Eanes (Darrell); niece, Maggie Eanes; nephew, Ethan
Eanes; aunts, Martha Turpin, Sue Howell, Lydia Burgess, Clara Graham; uncle,
Frank Keith; father and mother-in-law, Lewis and Janet Turner; sister-in-law,
Leona Turner.
Funeral
service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Maberry Funeral
Home Chapel with Pastor Allan Vass officiating. The interment will follow at
Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Theron Dylie Quesenberry, 88 of Willis,
passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017. He
was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Margaret Hollandsworth
Quesenberry, Parents, Mattie Baker Quesenberry and Christopher Oakley
Quesenberry; brother, Ham Quesenberry; sisters, Dallas Dalton and Treva
Quesenberry.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia
Dickerson; son, Joe Dylie Quesenberry (Pam); daughters, Debbie Q. Weeks
(Raymond) and Donna Q. Hodges (Mike);grandchildren, Derek M. Weeks (Brenda),
Amy H. Canfield (Justin), Kari Q. Rhodes (Austin), Megan A. Weeks (Danny),
Andrew S. Hodges (Kady), Scott L. Quesenberry; eight great-grandchildren;
brother, J.C. Quesenberry; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00
a.m., Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Maberry Funeral Home with Elder Larry
Hollandsworth officiating with interment in the Turman Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00

Betty Jean
Grice, 88 of Floyd, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017. She is preceded in
death by her mother, Beulah J. Hermanson and father, Sherman R. Grice, Sr. Betty was a
long-time member of RSVP and spent many years helping others. She enjoyed gathering
with her friends and playing BINGO, card games, and going shopping with the
senior group. She enjoyed participating in the Senior Olympics and was proud of
all of her winning metals and ribbons. She is
survived by her brother, Randy Grice, Jr. (Trudy), twin brother, Billy Grice
(Juanita); cousins, Jo Ann Maberry, Ann Phillips (Larry), Mitzi Roberson
(Rodney), and Nicole R. Carr (Tyler); two nieces; and numerous friends. Funeral
service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Maberry
Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe Cox officiating. Interment will follow in
the Restvale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00
p.m. prior to the service. The family
would like to extend a special thank you to Reva Hylton and Crystal Black for
their diligent love and care in the past months.
Ethylene Arminta Volinsky, 89, known as
"Lynnie" passed away Monday, April 10th in Winchester Virginia.
Mrs Volinsky was born October 4th 1927 in
Bluefield, W. Va., the daughter of Lonnie Bryant Hylton, and Rosa Ethyl
Hylton. After high school in Princeton W.Va, and nursing school at
Elizabeth Buxton School of Nursing, she entered the USAF and ultimately rose to
the rank of Captain before she left the military. She was a great
athlete and excelled at golf (2 hole in ones) and tennis. She never had anything
but a kind word to anyone she ever came in contact with. She married Simon Volinsky in
Karamusel,Turkey on June 7th, 1958 as
they were both stationed overseas in the military at that time. She is preceded
in death by 4 brothers, Maurice Hylton, Sigle Hylton, Lonnie Bryant Hylton,
Phillip Hylton and 2 sisters, Imogen Harmon, and Maxine Hylton. She is survived by her husband Simon
Volinsky, daughters Martha Jane Johnson, Nan Leigh Volinsky, son John Bryant
Volinsky MD all of Winchester, and 6 grandchildren, Megan Johnson, Charles
Johnson, Ethan Volinsky, Grace Volinsky, Ellie Volinsky, and Jack Volinsky. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on
Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the Maberry Funeral Home chapel with Kenneth
Hylton, Jr. officiating. The interment will follow at Phillips-Kessler
Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to

Simpkins, 90 of Indian Valley, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017. He was
preceded in death by his parents, Colon and Nannie Simpkins; brother, Royster
Simpkins.
He is survived
by his loving wife, Vasie Sutphin Simpkins; sons and daughter-in-law, Jimmy
Simpkins, Tommy Simpkins (Stephanie); daughter and son-in-law, Trish Simpkins
Williams (Kelly); grandchildren, Huey Simpkins, Suzetta Simpkins, Jenny Thompson

follow in the Captain George Quesenberry Cemetery. Military rites will be held
by the Hillsville V.F.W. Grover King Post #1115. The family will receive
friends from 9:00 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service at Maberry Funeral Home.
Ada Ellen Lester
Altizer, 100 of Floyd County, went home on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 to be with
her Lord and Savior and to reunite with her beloved husband Aaron and other
family members who have gone on before.
Ada was born
December 30, 1916, and resided in Floyd County all of her life.The farthest she ever traveled away from home
was to Charleston, SC.She was preceded
in death by her loving husband of 78 years, Aaron Clyde Altizer; parents, John
Francisco and Ella May Lester; five sisters, Lela Marshall, Ruby Harris, Gay
Royal, Annie Bower and infant Lucy Lester; four brothers, Davis Lester, Ray
Lester, Elvin Lester and Dempsey Lester; two sisters-in-law, Hattie Reed and
Callie Heslep; a son-in-law, Richard Bishop; and granddaughter, Rebekah.
Ada is
survived by four daughters and sons-in-law; Ellen and Carlie Spence of Floyd, Chloe
Bishop of Riner, Hattie Ethel and James Trail of Radford, Geneva and Allen Cox
of Christiansburg; Six grandchildren & spouses, Stephen C. Spence, of Hendersonville,
NC, Cindy B. & Gary Hylton of Floyd, VA, David & Sherry Trail of
Radford, VA, Angelia C. & Steven Quickery of Myrtle Beach, SC, April C.
& Stan Kegley of Cedar Point, NC and Allison C. & Scott Alderman of
Durham, NC; eight great-grandchildren; Ariel H. & husband Chris Bethell,
Ethan Trail, MacArthur Quickery, Payton Quickery, Kinsey Kegley, Seth Kegley,
Drew Alderman, and Luke Alderman; one great-great grandson, Silas Bethell; numerous
cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends,also
her special four-legged friends “Babe” and “Spot”.
After
accepting the Lord in September 1949, Ada has served as a Sunday School
Teacher, Choir Leader and a faithful member of the White Rock Church of the
Brethren, and as a Deaconess since 1951.She loved the Lord, her family and neighbors.In her later years, she spent her days
reading her Holy Bible, worked tirelessly on quilting, knitting and other
crafts.She firmly believed that idle
hands are the devil’s workshop, so she was constantly busy.
The family
will receive friends at Maberry Funeral Home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday,
April 7, 2017 and for one-half hour prior to the 11:00 am service on Saturday,
April 8, 2017 at the White Rock Church of the Brethren.A celebration of Ada’s life will follow with
Rev. Michael Pugh & Rev. David Trail officiating. Burial will be in the
White Rock Cemetery.
