Martha Agnes Coburn Phillips, 88, of Alum Ridge(Floyd County) , widow of Theron A. Phillips passed away in the
early morning hours of November 18, 2016.
Born in West Virginia September 13, 1928, she lived most of her adult
life in Floyd County, Virginia. Agnes
was a beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother
(Nanny) and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents
Alonzo and Mandy Hicks Coburn; sisters, Juanita Coburn, Phyllis Griffith;
brothers Bill, Tom, and Don Coburn. She
was also preceded by her oldest daughter, Patsy Gail Phillips and special
grandson, Jacob Coburn Phillips.
When Mom married Dad, her family doubled
when they made their home in Virginia, she went to work at Imperial
Reading/Health-Tex and made many friends.
Her church family was also important to her.
Many survivors are left to mourn her
passing, daughters are Peggy and husband Joe Quesenberry, Dolly Conner, Nancy
and Kenny Page; grandchildren are Kristen Reed Orange and husband Kevin, Emily
and Joey Kaylor, Zachary Conner, Joshua Conner and wife Ashley;
great-grandchildren are Brittney Howell, Michael “Mikey” Howell, Lavannah
Kaylor, Burley Kaylor, Jasper Conner and Melody Conner; special sister, Sylvia
Quesenberry and sister Freda Giron; many beloved nieces, nephews and extended
family.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00
p.m., Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
Michael Pugh and Pastor Roy Junior Bentley officiating with interment in the White
Rock Cemetery, beside the love of her life, Theron. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to
8:00 p.m., Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Maberry Funeral Home.
Flowers are appreciated, however the
family would also appreciate donations to be made in Agnes Phillips memory to
the White Rock Cemetery fund, c/o Tazewell Altizer, 376 Indian Valley Rd., NW,
Radford, VA. 24141 Or to Good Samaritan Hospice, 1160 Moose Drive,
Christiansburg, VA. 24073.
