John C. Gearhart, Jr., 95 of Floyd,
passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife, Magadeline
Gearhart.
John served in the US Army in the 1st
Calvary Division as a Rifleman. He was a
faithful member at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren, an avid hunter,
fisherman and musician. He enjoyed
playing several instruments and attended the Friday Night Jamboree
He is survived by daughters, Maxine
Kelly (Robert), Kathy Kidwell (David); sons, Earl Gearhart (Betty Jo), Johnny
Gearhart (Sharon), Gary Gearhart (Christine); grandchildren, April Cochran,
Doug Gearhart(Kena), Troy Gearhart, Maggie Gearhart, Carrie Hackett (Curtis),
Kim Jackson (Mathew), Tracie Geiger(Bobby), Joel Benson (Beatrice); close
friend, Ruth Weeks; brother, Gene Gearhart; sisters, Betty Jo Stockley, Helen
Guthrie; several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday,
November 15, 2015 at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren with Pastor Marvin
Wade, Rev. Richard Thomas and Pastor Roy Turpin officiating . Interment will
follow at Beaver Creek Cemetery with Military Rites by Floyd V.F.W. Post #7854
and American Legion Post # 127. Family
will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday, November 14, 2015
at Maberry Funeral Home
