Laureen Lester Reed, 85, of Floyd departed from her earthly life to her heavenly home at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital on April 1, 2015. She was born on March 6, 1930, to the late Gilbert and Meda Lester. She is now reunited in heaven with the love her life, Percy Allen Reed. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Gilbert Lester, Jr.
Laureen is survived by two special sons and
daughters-in-law, Robert and Judy Reed and Jeffery and Debbie Reed; four
grandchildren who were the “apples of her eye,” Jennifer Bishop and husband
Daniel, Matthew Reed, Heather Ball and husband Phillip, and Michael Reed and
wife Emily; five great-grandchildren who were dear to her heart, Jesse and
Isaac Bishop and Olivia, Madison, and Gavin Ball. She is also survived by brother-in-law and
wife Alvis and Reva Reed and sisters-in-law Ruby Harman and Hazel Hylton. She had many cherished friends, especially
Velma Townley. Laureen was a faithful
member of Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren, where she served as deaconess.
The family will receive family and friends from 5p.m. to
7p.m., Friday, April 3, 2015, at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren, Floyd. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am. , Saturday,
April 4, 2015, at Beaver Creek Church of
the Brethren, with Rev. Marvin Wade and Rev. Richard Thomas
officiating. Interment will follow in
Beaver Creek Cemetery. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to the Beaver Creek Church Benevolence Fund in
her memory. Maberry Funeral Home,
Floyd, is serving the family.
