Caytlynn "Caytie" Sabrina Rupe


 

Caytlynn “Caytie” Sabrina Rupe, 27 of Floyd, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. She is preceded in death by her mother, Linnette Rupe.

She is survived by her father, Robbie Rupe; sister, Amber Rupe; loving grandparents, Michael Conner and Linda Carnell; and multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved her very much.

When there is something beautiful in the world we must share it, and when we love it we must let it go.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Caytie to the UVA Transplant Center, P.O. Box 37963, Boone, Iowa 50037 and include “The Benefitting Area” in the memo.

Barbara Lucille Stuart

 

Barbara Lucille Stuart, 72 of Roanoke, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Martha Price Stuart; brothers, Thomas Wilfred Stuart, Henry Price, Hawthorne Stuart, and William Stuart; and sisters, Pearl Stuart, Cornelia Couch, and Wanda Stuart.

She is survived by her sons, Gregory Stuart (Jessica) and Thomas Stuart; grandchildren, Dylan Robert Stuart, Joshua David Stuart, Brendan Thomas Stuart, and Autumn Colleen Stuart; brother, Matthew Stuart (Debra); sisters, Virginia King (Johnny Smith), Martha Saunders, and Helen Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Marlan Morris officiating. Interment will follow in the Stuart Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Nancy Jane Blackwell Shank


 

Nancy Jane Blackwell Shank, born on January 30, 1934, in Floyd County, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on May 8, 2025. 

She was a long-time faithful member of Stonewall United Methodist Church where she taught a Sunday School class for pre-school children for several years. She loved to read God’s Word, having read through the Bible many times over the years. 

Nancy Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Miles Shank, Jr.; parents, Sherman and Eula Williams Blackwell; brothers, Robert Blackwell and Kenneth Blackwell; stepbrothers, Gene Quesenberry and Fred Quesenberry; brothers-in-law, Frank Shelor, Tommy Hall and Wilmer “W. B.” Nolen; sisters-in-law, Harriet Allen and Manila Canaday.

She is survived by sons, Joel Shank, wife Amanda, and Stewart Shank, wife Tammy; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Ileda Shelor, Louise Hall, and Mary Nolen; sisters-in-law, Patrica Blackwell and Kathy Blackwell; many nephews and nieces, including niece Iva Ferguson who was very special to her; and numerous cousins.

Nancy Jane excelled as a homemaker, seamstress and cook. She enjoyed flower gardening when she was in good health. She was a member of the homemaking and quilting clubs at Floyd for years. She won awards for some of her quilts and canned goods. 

The family is grateful for the care she received at South Roanoke Nursing Home, particularly the care given to her by aide Pam Terry. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Stonewall United Methodist-Church of the Brethren with Pastor Darren Landon and Pastor Jerry Hylton officiating. Interment will follow in the Stonewall Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. 

In lieu of flowers, she requested that memorial donations be given to Stonewall Cemetery Fund, c/o Samantha T. Wade, 237 Jericho Lane NE, Floyd, VA 24091.

Jasi Marie Meade

 


Jasi Marie Artis Meade, age 51, passed away on April 30th, 2025 after years of battling cancer.

She was a loving mother to her only child, Julia Jasi Meade (age 22) and an amazing wife to her husband, Gerald Todd Meade (age 50). She is preceded in death by her mother, Susan Marie Gullion; and father George William Artis. She is also survived by her father, Ron Gullion; step-sister, Shirley Hicks; brother Christopher Artis; sister-in-law, Krista Artis; and niece Kathryn Artis. 

She was born in Pennsylvania, but settled in Pilot, VA with her husband, where she lived the remainder of her life. Though she had many jobs throughout her life, the job she was best at was being a stay at home mom, which she did for many years. On April 1st, 2025, P. Green Dragon was officially released, a childrens’ book written by Jasi, her daughter Julia, and her mother, Susan. Jasi was dedicated to writing, but also very dedicated to her faith. She was a member of Haven's Chapel Methodist Church in Pilot, where she wrote the monthly newsletter, and volunteered at the church’s food bank for many years. Jasi was very involved with the community always, and was constantly helping others in any way she could. Through God, she was able to reach so many people, and touch so many lives. She will be dearly missed by not only her family, but her whole community.

Janice Terry Harmon


 

Janice Terry Harmon, 86 of Willis, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arley and Geraldine Terry.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Carlton Harmon; son, Rick Harmon; sisters, Jackie Lawson (Nash), Brenda Owens (Jerry), Aleta Elvin; brother, Sheldon Terry (Marie); and numerous nieces and nephews.  

Per Janice’s request there will be no services.

James B. Vest


 

James B. Vest passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was born April 13, 1949, on the family farm, on Boothe Creek Road in Copper Hill, to Morris A. and Ida Cannaday Vest who preceded him in death along with his granddaughter, Constance A. Vest; grandson, Billy Neighbors; brothers, Kyle Vest, Ralph Vest, David Vest; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Janney (Thurman) and Ruth Ingram (Elvin).  

He is survived by his loving wife, Katie Spence Vest; son, James B. “Jimmy” Vest; great-grandsons, Douglas James Vest and Aiden Hajek; brothers and sister-in-law, Paul Vest and Charles Vest (Loretta); sister and brother-in-law, Marie Thomas (Bill); along with brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Arthur Spence, III (Marie) and Jimmy Spence (Janie); and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. 

The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to friends and family for all the help during his illness. 

Funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday, May 3, 2025 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Daniel Whitlock, Pastor Jerry Hylton and Pastor Darren Landon officiating. Interment will follow in the Stonewall Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until Noon prior to the service at the funeral home.
