Clenon Gay Quesenberry Turman, born February 9, 1929, entered her heavenly home on Monday, November 14, 2022, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. She was the youngest of 6 children born to Gordon and Caroline Quesenberry in Willis, Virginia. Clenon was a lifelong resident of the Shady Grove Community. She subsequently married the love of her life, Alvin C. Turman, who she has gone on to meet once again.
Three children were born to this union, Zelda, Frances and Tommy. In later years, Clenon hosted a much larger family, and was proud to live to see five generations.
Clenon was known as a caring and giving person. She made sure that anyone she met was well-cared for. She was a lifelong and respected elder member of Shady Grove Church and she attended school during her formative years in the same building in which she later worshipped.
Clenon is predeceased by her husband, Alvin; her parents, Gordon and Caroline; her sisters, Alma Q. Wade, Dovie Q. Phillips, and Lula Q. Phillips; and her brothers, Chester Quesenberry and Hoy Quesenberry.
She is survived by daughters, Zelda Quesenberry (Richard) and Frances Burnette; her son, Tommy Turman, all of the Shady Grove Community; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Clenon will be greatly missed by her family and her community, but her strong spirit and love will live on in the many that were blessed to meet and know her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joel Cox and Pastor Randy Sutphin officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2022 at the funeral home.
