Climpsey Lee Quesenberry, 83 of Willis VA, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, March 11, 2022 of natural causes.
Climpsey was born in Carroll County VA, on September 25, 1938. He was, to say the least, a rough and tough old Mountain Man, having always worked in Sawmills, with hogs and many other different outdoor labor jobs. He loved being outside working in wood, taking care of his flowers, tending his garden, keeping up his yard and talking to all the little critters. He loved spending time with his beautiful wife Janice and with his family and friends. You could always count on a story of the good old days, a lesson on how things used to be done, or being put to work because it’s good for you and was his way of spending time with you. In his later years he developed a passion for building things with wood and was always on the look out for that next tree to cut down to get boards out of. He loved to go visit somewhere but was Always eager to get back HOME, for that was where his heart and soul resided, as it Always will.
Climpsey Lee Quesenberry is survived by his wife, Janice Marie (Ousley) Quesenberry, to whom he married on September 22, 1963. They were married for 58 years. Climpsey is also survived by three sons, Gary Lee Quesenberry, Jeffery Lane Quesenberry, and Ronald Ray Quesenberry (Katie); one brother, Willie (Jimmy) Quesenberry; two sisters, Lora Bolen and Rachel Horton; eight grandchildren, Heather (his little sugar bear), Timothy, Whitney, Ashley, Kerstan, Austin, Kendra, and Cameron; fourteen great grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
Climpsey is preceded in death by his parents, Posey Edgar and Alice Williams Quesenberry; his son, Michael Dale Quesenberry; his brothers, Lesley, Edgar (Buster), and Harlow Quesenberry; sisters, Louise Goad and Edna Turman; his grandson, Gregory Quesenberry; his great grandson, Karter Ray Quesenberry.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Maberry Funeral Home with Pastor Randall Sutphin of Shady Grove Church officiating. The interment will follow at Mitchells Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
