Christine Jeanette Light Vest

Christine Jeanette Light Vest went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 20, 2018.  She was 96 years young.  A resident of Check her whole life, Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Lee Vest, whom she married in 1946; parents Prof. Brownlow and Ardella Prillaman Light; brothers, Harris Hart, Julian Nelson, Irving Binford and Ralph Emerson Light; sisters, Corinne Martha Light McNeil and Evelyn Light Shank.

She is survived by sons, Robert Irving (Kathy), Roger Lee, Daniel Brown (Kirsten) Vest; grandchildren, Robert Irving, Jr. (Melinda), James Lee (Kristy), Paul Alfred (Scarlett), Ian Edward (fiancé Olivia Goodson), Ragan Christine Vest; great-grandchildren, Kaleb Eli and Ava Leigh Vest; nieces and nephews,  Lois McNeil Basham, Louise McNeil Shank, Maynard McNeil, Sadie Shank Benn, David Shank and Leslie Light Burton as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Christine loved life on the farm and spent countless hours walking the hills checking on her cows, tending to her huge gardens, canning the bounty from those gardens, enjoying the beautiful flowers she and Roger planted around the house, and watching the hummingbirds and occasional orioles that came because of the flowers.  She took great pleasure in cooking and especially loved making fried apple pies for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Maberry Funeral Home with Pastor Darren Landon officiating with interment to follow at the Wilson Cemetery in Check.  Visitation will be Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Maberry Funeral Home.
