Bernard
James Cox, age 92, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2018 at Radford
Rehabilitation Center. He was born on
January 20, 1926 to James P. Cox and Jessie Altizer Cox of Floyd County. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69
years, Bessie Hollandsworth Cox, sister, Effie Higgs, brothers, Russell Cox,
Coleman Cox and Phillip Cox and an infant sister.
He
is survived by four children and their spouses; Brenda and Wayne Johnson, Sandra
Rorrer, Donald and Debbie Cox, Wayne and Erma Cox; 14 grandchildren; 3
step-grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; sisters, Reba Wade, Glenda DeHart; brother, Allen Cox.
He
was a retired dairy farmer in Montgomery County and a disabled veteran of World
War II having served in the Battle of the Bulge.
He
was a faithful member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
Funeral
service will be held at Noon, Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Valley View Primitive
Baptist Church with Elder Larry Hollandsworth and Elder Raymond Goad
officiating. Interment will follow in
the Cox Family Cemetery with Military Rites by the Army National Guard. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m.
to Noon prior to the service at the church.
