June Reed Simpkins, 82 of
Christiansburg, passed away Monday, October 24, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ora
& Charlie Reed; brother & sister-in-law, Gene & Joyce Reed; niece,
Karen Joyce Reed.
Born in Floyd county, June was well known for her work with H&R Block from 1970-2005. In 1987 she was enrolled as an IRS agent. She fought a courageous battle with cancer since her first diagnosis in 2001.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Quinton Simpkins; son , David Simpkins & special daughter-in-law, Regina Turman; daughter & son-law, Sheree’ & Phill Madison; grandsons, Jason (Whitney) Lafon, Dustin (Krista) Lafon, Landon & Dylan Simpkins; great-grandchildren, Roxy & Gavin Lafon, Macy Lafon; sisters & brothers-in-law, Joyce & Lonnie Slaughter, Donna & Bobby Hayden.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m.
Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren with Pastor
Craig Reed, Pastor Marvin Wade and Pastor Roy Turpin officiating with interment
in the Beaver Creek Church Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday,
