Gertrude Childress Page


Gertrude Childress Page, 93 of Floyd, entered into her Eternal Life surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, August 13, 2014. She is preceded in death by her husband, Vivian W. Page; parents, Robert & Louise Owens Childress; infant son, Larry; daughter, Carolyn Boyd; five sisters; three brothers; and sons-in-law, Bobby Boyd and Pastor Robert Blackwell.



Mrs. Page was a longtime member of New Haven Baptist Church of Floyd and Tuggles Gap Baptist Church of Floyd. She made the best fried apple pies in the world. She loved and was loved by all who knew her.



She is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Vernon W. & Nancy Page, Teddy R. & Connie Page, Michael L. Page; daughters & sons-in-law, Patricia Blackwell, Brenda P. & Retired Judge John Apostolou, Deborah P. & Michael Agee, Connie P. & Bruce Shaw; grandchildren, Joe Blackwell, Kim Shively, Michelle Hanson,

Dr. Kelly Werder, Nicole Ray, Jay Wilmer, Amanda Elyard, Tessie Martin, Abe Agee, Kati Agee, Patrick Shaw, Elizabeth Sheets, Kinsey Page, Ethan Page; 16 great-grandchildren; special friends, Rose McDaniel, Joyce Reed, and Ralph Beran; and a large family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.



Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Tuggles Gap Baptist Church with Pastor Patrick Shaw and Pastor Michael Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Maberry Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to benefit grandson, Patrick Shaw’s medical fund, c/o Joe Blackwell, P.O. Box 384, Floyd, VA 24091.


The family would like to extend a special thank you to Debbie Davis, Marie Lester, Becky Mengelt, and the rest of the staff at Human Touch Home Health, as well as Intrepid Hospice Services.
