Roger Lee Dulaney

Roger Lee Dulaney, 73 of Alum Ridge passed on Sunday, December 28, 2025. Born and raised in Floyd County, Roger spent his life surrounded by the mountains and nature he loved. His life was defined by hard work and a gentle humor that brought warmth to every room.

Roger was happiest behind the wheel of a truck, traveling the country and taking in new places from the open road. He built trucks at Volvo and also hauled loads for many years and took great pride in the work. A talented craftsman, he built the family’s home with his own hands and could build or fix just about anything. His teasing spirit, kindness, and steady presence will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Draper and Margie Dulaney; sister, Corrine Reed; and son, Scotty Dulaney.

Roger is survived by his wife, Susan Dulaney; son, Roger James Dulaney (Wanda); daughters, Amanda Moore (Reginald), and Miranda Searing (Brian). He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, Chelsea Coalson (Nicholas), Dillon Dulaney, Jlyn Dulaney, Cameron Moore (Andrea), Julian Moore, Channing Moore, and Kaiden Searing; as well as two great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brother, Billy Dulaney (Kim); and sisters, Christine Simpkins (Maurice), Shirley Belcher. Roger leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved him dearly.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2026 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Greg Poff officiating. A private family interment will follow. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Roger’s family will forever cherish the memories of his laughter, his stories from the road, and the love he shared so generously.
