Elmer Guy Belcher, 86 of Floyd passed on Monday, December 29, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Verna Belcher; daughter, Diana Belcher; brothers, Clyde Belcher, Elvin Belcher, Leon Belcher; and brother-in-law, Junior Montgomery.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Beatrice Belcher; daughters, Renee B. Akers (Timmy), Marlene Belcher; grandchildren, Amanda Dulaney (Will), T.J. Vest (Jessica), Travis Akers (Ashley), Jonathan Gauldin; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Montgomery, Neva Church (James), Judy Sparks (Jodi); sisters-in-law, Corine Belcher, Connie Belcher, Shirley Belcher; his donkeys, Hee Haw, Molly, Coco; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Guy was an avid gardener. He worked at VDOT for 33 years and drove a school bus for 10 years. But the most important thing to him, was his family. He always showed up for everything!
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday,
January 1, 2026 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wes Conner
officiating. Interment will follow at the Slate Mountain Church Cemetery with
Military Rites by the Army National Guard. The family will receive friends from
Noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
