Richard Raymond Keith

 

Richard Raymond Keith, 83 of Floyd, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harlow Theodore & Francis Virginia Collins Keith; wife, Betty Lou Dulaney Keith;  daughter, Debbie Gardner; son-in-law, Harvie Reed; Three brothers; Five sisters.

He is survived by his children, Danny Keith (Jean), Louise K. Thomas (David), Amy Reed, Gail Keith, and Marie Keith; grandchildren, Tessa, Hubert, Mandy, Ricky, Jimmy, Jason, Jessica, T.C., Ashley, Kayla, Josh, Adrienne, D.J., Walter, and Brandy; fifteen great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter, brother-in-law, Sammy Dulaney (Susan); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Roy Turpin and Joshua Keith officiating. The interment will follow in the Duncan Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon till 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Iris "Colleen" Cox

 

Iris ‘Colleen’ Cox, 93, of Copper Valley, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Highland Ridge Rehab surrounded by her family.

Colleen was born on December 10. 1928 in Floyd County and was the daughter of the late Chrisley and Evie Duncan. She is preceded in death by her husband Elder Jack Willard Cox, her son, Andrew Cox, daughter-in-law, Judy Rutrough Cox, and son-in-law, Roger Holdren.

Colleen was the oldest surviving member of Old Union Primitive Baptist Church of Indian Valley. She will always be remembered for her home cooked meals and making you feel at home. Nobody ever left her house hungry.

Left to cherish her memory is her children: David (Dianne) Cox, Joe (Teresa) Cox, Sam (Dana) Cox, Faye Holdren, Mike Cox, and Arthur (Wanita) Cox. Colleen is survived by her grandchildren, Todd Cox, Marsha Phillips, Michele Cox, Brian Cox, Jason Cox, Thomas Cox, Chris Cox, Amanda Atkinson, Matthew Cox, and Alice Cox. She is also survived by several beloved great grandchildren and a special cousin, Jimmy Dean Duncan (Sherry).

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Raymond Goad officiating. The interment will follow at at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Maberry Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank Highland Ridge Rehab Center and Good Samaritan Hospice for the care given to our mom in her last days.

Flowers are appreciated, but donations in Colleen’s memory may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice or Indian Valley Fire and Rescue.

Byron Howard Turner, Sr.

 

Byron Howard Turner, Sr. 75 of Indian Valley, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Byron Aubrey and Elma Louise Kennard Turner; wife, Linda Lou Turner; daughter, Lisa Marie Turner.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Byron and Cynthia Turner; granddaughter, Emily Marie Turner; grandson, Jaxon Howard Turner; brother, Jim Turner; aunt, Margaret Turner; cousins, Glen Turner, Tammy Turner, Clark Turner.

Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Indian Valley Church of God with Pastor Kenneth Poston and Pastor Jamie Cooper officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Troy Allen Bain

 

Troy Allen Bain “Birdie”, age 58, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022. Allen grew up in Floyd Virginia surrounded by his large family as he had 10 other siblings. He was influenced by his family to pursue a career in heating and air, using knowledge obtained from Danville Community College, where he received his associate degree. Allen had a big heart and in his free time enjoyed to hunt, garden, and spend time with his family. He was a loving son, brother, and friend to all who knew him. Although Allen faced many challenges at the end of his life, he wholeheartedly knew the Lord, and that has brought great peace to the family. “Birdie” will be greatly missed by his large family and friends.

Allen is preceded in death by his father, James Bain; brothers, Mickey and Bobby Billy Bain.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Bain Gallimore (Dale); siblings, Danny Bain (Jenny), Mark Bain, Tonya Hall (David), Tammy Keith (Darren), Daniece Rodrigue (Rene’), Jodey Bain (Pam), Robbie Bain (Jenny), Jill McCallister (Josh); many special nieces and nephews who will love and miss him, Hollie, Dustin, Brandon, Jolie, Josh, Cole, Grace, Mason, Christian, Ashley, Misty, Maranda, Eli, Tyler, Levi, Aiden, Jaryn, and Janysa; two special fur friends, Rufus and Lilly.

John 11:26 “And everyone who lives and believes in Me (The Lord) shall never die.”

A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Pastor Vernon Dalton officiating.

Patsy P. Martin

 

Patsy P. Martin, 80 of Rocky Mount, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie & Mary Alice Merrimen Pickurel; husband, Roy Martin and brother, Doug Pickurel.

She is survived by her sisters, Jean P. Jackson and Nancy Mize.

A graveside service will be held  1 P.M. Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the Mountain View Cemetery, Ridgeway, VA with Pastor Jeff Evans officiating.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the loving care showed to Patsy over the last six years at the Fork Mountain Rest Home.
