Robert Eugene Hatcher

 

Robert Eugene Hatcher, 72 of Floyd, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. He is preceded in death by his father, Preston E. Hatcher.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda M. Hatcher; daughters, Karen West (Kevin) and Vicky Diamond (Clinton); grandchildren, Sarah Siegfried (Andrew), Michael Bearden, Natasha Bearden, John Diamond, Hunter Diamond, and Kaitlyn Diamond; and his mother, Helen Hatcher.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dan Agee and Dr. Graham Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in the Lee Cemetery, Tuggles Gap. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, May 1, 2023 at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Blue Ridge Cancer Care, Dr. Young, LewisGale-Pulaski Cancer Center, Dr. Asher, and the nurses and staff of the CNRVMC Medical Unit. 

Charles Courtney Grooms, Jr.

 

Charles Courtney Grooms, Jr., 84 of Floyd, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023. He is preceded in death by his son, Curtis Grooms; brother, Tommy Grooms; and sister, Jean Smith.

He is survived by his daughters & son-in-law, Sandy Mabery, Diana & Glen Moles, and Judy & Wayne Mills; grandchildren, Adam Moran, Alicia Bosniak (Josh), Jacob Reed, Cody Mills, Kaitlin Chantal (Rowan), Kristen Dingus (Bobby), and Matthew Grooms; great-grandchildren, James Bosniak, Allister Chantal, Griffin Chantal, and soon to arrive, Elliana Dingus; brother & sister-in-law, Robert & Sandra Grooms; brother-in-law, Warren Lin Smith; and special friends, Mary Grooms and Ina Linkous.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dan Agee officiating. Interment will follow in the Williams Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.  

Betty Sue Akers Jones

 

Betty Sue Akers Jones, 76 of Floyd, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023. She is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Jones, Jr.; parents, Ray & Etha Akers; brother, Julian Akers; and sister, Mary Weeks.

She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Stephen & Janet Wood; daughter & son-in-law, Michelle & Phillip Fisher; grandchildren, Erika (Aaron) Scruggs, Jackelyn (Travis) Dillabough, Amanda (Thomas) Tabor, Charles Price, and Abigail Fisher; great-granddaughters, Ava Tabor and Alyza Tabor; special sister, Phyllis Butterworth; brother-in-law, Clyde Weeks; nephews and niece, Michael Weeks, Donald Weeks, Linda Weeks, and Raymond (Brittany) Butterworth and Special Dog Susie.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren with Pastor Roy Turpin officiating. Interment will follow in the Lester Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

The family would like to thank Betty’s church family, neighbors, and friends for all of their help, support, and hospitality during this difficult time as well as a special thank you to Amy Wirt and everyone at Carilion Hospice for their loving care.

Lois Jean Cox

 

Lois Jean Cox, 93 of Floyd, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents, Zach & Eliza Reed Cox; and siblings, Hobert Cox, Alda Cox, Ocie Dulaney (Taft), Pearl Reed (Dewey), Rosie Clay (Donald), Eulala Dickerson (Edgar), Ilene Hylton (Jimmy), Clarice Smith (Troy), and Dorcas Elaine Cox.

Lois Jean loved her church family at Floyd Church of Christ and took great pleasure in cleaning the church, worked in the cutting department at Floyd Garment, and took loving care of her parents and her sister. She collected all things strawberry, knew who gave her each piece, and took them down once a month and dusted them.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and the Carnice Mannon Family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Mitchell Floyd officiating. Interment will follow in the Indian Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Kyle Edward Lee

 

Kyle Edward Lee, 83 of Floyd, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023. He is preceded in death by his sister, Beatrice Wood; and son-in-law, Mike Keith.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Frances Weddle Lee; son, Scott E. Lee; daughter, Vicki Lee Keith; grandchildren, Kerri Williams (Richard) and Karla Rodgers (Shannon); great-grandchildren, Jarrett Williams (Hannah), Maisie Rodgers, Hallie Williams, Evie Williams, and Tanner Rodgers; and sisters, Nancy Dillon (Avery) and Elva Haden (Moir).

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jason Pratt officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at the funeral home.

Clifford Howard Harmon

 

Clifford Howard Harmon, 70 of Floyd, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents, June & Lucinda Harmon; and sister, Sharon Elaine Harmon.

He is survived by his siblings, Dennis & Donna Harmon, Judy & Phillip Ayers, and Rodney Harmon; nieces & nephews, Denise Webb, Amanda H. Beverly, Kenneth Beasley, Stacey Alley, Andy Ayers, Mandy Harmon, and Ricky Harmon; and great-nieces & great-nephews, Brooke Webb, Stacey Beverly, Olivia Beverly, Camden Alley, Josh Beasley, Delta Burress, Thriston Burress, Dustin Burress, John Roberts Harris, and Jennifer Harris.  

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2023 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Pickett officiating. Interment will follow in the Lee Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2023 at the funeral home.
