Lois Ann Poff Akers

 

Lois Ann Poff Akers, 79 of Floyd, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024. She is preceded in death by her father, Flemon Poff; siblings, Katherine Poff, Imogene Poff, Edsel Poff, and Darlene Poff Dove; and son-in-law, Mark Woollums.

She is survived by her mother, Pauline Pratt Poff; daughters, Joana Akers Shelor (Jeff), Carolyn Akers, and Glynda Akers Woollums; grandchildren, Matthew Woollums, Ryan Woollums, Anna (Dylan) Guiter, and Aaron Shelor; sister & brothers-in-law, Melinda Poff Shaver & Melvin and Calvin Dove; sister-in-law, Arlene Hedrick & Merrell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dwayne Martin, Pastor Merrell Hedrick, and Rebecca Navarro officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Todd Nathanial Huff

 

Todd Nathanial Huff, 48 of Indian Valley, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024. He is preceded in death by his father, Roger Dewey Huff; and father-in-law, Arbie Clarence Gallimore.

Todd was well known in his community of Indian Valley, a place he loved and cherished and lived with his adoring family. He met the love of his life when they were 11 and 12 years old, true elementary school sweethearts. They happily built their home on the land where they met and played as children. The love he had for his family was immense. He dedicated 24 years to Hollingsworth & Vose. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed hunting, shooting guns, and history, collecting rocks and arrowheads. He attended Indian Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church regularly.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sharon Trail Huff; children, Joshua Nathanial Huff and Natalie Morgan Huff; mother, Betty Lytton Huff; brothers, Timmy Huff and Terry Huff; special dog, Jack Silas Huff; in-laws, Colene Gallimore, Kathleen Belcher, and Barry & Barbara Trail; and numerous nieces & nephews.  

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Indian Valley Church of God with Rev. Kenneth Poston and Pastor Rocky Huff officiating. Interment will follow in Captain George Quesenberry Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Regina Kay Sutphin Compton

 

Regina Kay Sutphin Compton, 58 of Willis, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dallas Ray Sutphin and Mattie Jane Quesenberry.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Brandon Matthew Compton (Kalani Ziegler); step-daughter, Cassie Compton; sister & brother-in-law, Joan Marie & David Slusher; brother & sister-in-law, Danny Ray & June Sutphin; nieces and nephews, Taylor Ryan Slusher, Brooke Kathleen Slusher, Maegan Roop, and Rachel Compton; and special friend, Alvin Alderman.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Freida Eileen Clay


 

Freida Eileen Clay of Christiansburg, entered Heaven on Saturday, July 29, 2023. Freida was a member of Christian Growth Center Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Stella Mae Pickett.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 53 years, Roger Clay; daughters, Becky Clay Christensen (Todd), Richmond, VA; Rita Griffin (Wayne), Staunton, VA; and Crystal Trice (Greer), Hillsboro, OR; son, Bobby Joe Clay (Nicole), Williamsburg, VA. Freida is also survived by her siblings, Darrell Pickett, Oak Ridge, NC; and Charles Pickett (Aurelia), Marlboro, MD; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to thank Medi Home Health & Hospice for their care of Freida. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the Christian Growth Center, 1850 Electric Way, Christiansburg, VA with Pastor Todd Hallinan officiating.
