Regenia Irene Reece Nester

Regenia Irene Reece Nester, 96 of Willis, VA passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025. She was born on September 4, 1929, in Willis VA to the late Lewis McKinley Reece and Lurenda “Toy” Reece. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Carlis Theren Nester and precious daughter Judy Ann Nester; brothers Junior Reece, Ray Reece, Theodore Reece and Billy Reece and sisters: Hazel Turman, Claudine Dillion, Glenna Phillips and Ivadell Goad.

Left to cherish her memories are daughters, Sandra Widejko (Rick), Jennifer Nester, and Sharon Zeman (Shannon); five grandchildren, Daniel Belcher (Heather), Jessica Zeman, Jenny Hale, Ryan Widejko (Samantha), and Maggie Widejko; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Violet Reece; and brother, Ward Reece (Sandra.)

After the tragic loss of her daughter Judy, Regenia was blessed with 3 other daughters. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom until her girls were older. She worked for several years in the garment factory in Floyd and later Galax Virginia. Regenia was a member of the Topeco Christian Church where she and Theren served as deacons.

She enjoyed cooking, cleaning and making her “signature” biscuits and gravy every Sunday morning, then promptly getting everyone ready for church. In her later years, she enjoyed walking at Turman’s Gym where she met her wonderful friends. She always liked to talk on the phone with all her friends and family. Each morning and evening, she received phone calls from her girls and her brother, Ward. Everyone had a designated time slot to “check in.”

The family wishes to thank Skyline Nursing and Rehabilitation and Good Sam for taking care of Regenia for the last several months.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Topeco Christian Church with Pastor Greg Cox, Pastor Eric Reece and Pastor Mike Varner officiating. Interment will follow at the Reece Cemetery in Dugspur, VA. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Maberry Funeral Home in Floyd VA.
