Junior Ray Harris


 

Junior Ray Harris, 88 of Floyd, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents, Everette & Ibra Graham Harris; wife, Lucy Boyd Harris; daughter, Dianne Bower; sister, Doris Genette Harris; and brothers, Roy Kennith Harris, and J.W. Harris. 

Junior was a lifetime active member of Station 1 Volunteer Fire Department in Floyd County. He enjoyed fishing and held the record for the biggest bass caught to date by the Floyd County Bass Club at 8 lb. 11 oz. Among other jobs over the years, Junior worked for 40 years in the pattern department at Donnkenny in Floyd. He was truly a good man, mentor to many, legend at the fire department, and hero to those who loved and looked up to him. 

He is survived by his daughter, Debra Scott (Cecil); step-children, Mike Cockram (Becky) and Margie C. Belcher; granddaughter, Jessica Hilton (Shawn); step-grandchildren, Paul Belcher, Jaimie Bolt (Philip), Shalena Conner (Timmy), and Aleesha Cockerham (J.J.); great-grandchildren, Addison, Rylee, and Brodie Hilton; step-great-grandchildren, Baylee Hawks (Mark), Bryce Cockram, and Blake Cockerham; brother, Melvin Harris; sisters, Frances Bishop and Joyce Weeks; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Marvin Wade officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery with last call by the Floyd County Volunteer Fire Department. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025 at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Junior to the Floyd County Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 33, Floyd, VA 24091.
