Bobby Woodson Phillips

Bobby Woodson Phillips, 88 of Welch, WV, passed on Saturday, November 22, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brady & Odell Phillips; wife of 49 years, Noble Phillips; siblings & in-laws, Chester & Edith Phillips; Claburn & Annie Phillips, Elwood Phillips, Roger Phillips, JoAnn & Albert Kingrea, Geneva Smith; in-laws, Dorsie Montgomery, Sandy Phillips, Bea Ann Phillips, Ruth & Eugene Quesenberry, Eugene Cox, Cletis Cox, Udale Cox, Eldridge Cox, Lacie & Phyllis Cox, and Madalene Cox

Bobby was born in Anawalt, WV on June 4, 1937. As a young man he worked at a sawmill driving logging trucks. He also drove coal trucks while in West Virginia. After moving to Virginia he worked at Federal Mogul, the steel mill in Roanoke and then settled at the Radford Arsenal for about 25 years, where he retired.

He loved his church, East Radford Church of God, where he was a greeter. After moving back to West Virginia he attended Conklintown Church of God where he served on the board. Bobby also loved restoring his lawn and garden tractors.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Sylvia Phillips; son & daughter-in-law, Andrew & Patricia Phillips; daughter & son-in-law, Brenda & Rusty Hudnall; grandsons, Daniel & Beth Phillips, Ben & Adrianna Phillips; granddaughters, Candace & Zach Kingrea, Autumn & Jacob Phillips; great-grandchildren, Liam, Tristan, Camden & Atlas Phillips, Dean & Olivia Kingrea; siblings, Clarence Phillips, Jackie & Alice Phillips, Reba Montgomery, Ronald Phillips, Timmy & Sandra Phillips; in-laws, Oleda Phillips, Modene Quesenberry, Ronald Smith, Payton & Judy Cox, Waitman & Patricia Cox, Mary Cox, Gayle Warren, Boyd Jr. & Rhonda Fowler, Jairus Fowler, Kenny & Mary Fowler, Ralph & Kathy Fowler, Virginia Jones, Shirley & Rev. Franklin Sexton, and Betty Camden.

Bobby was a godly man who loved everyone and would help anyone in need. He lived his life every day to please his Lord. He cared for his wife of 49 years until her passing. He regularly visited his family and friends. Bobby also regularly visited church friends in need with his friend and pastor, Wayne Poston.

His smile was so warm and special he set those around him at ease. He was dearly loved and will be missed. We will see you in heaven.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 28, 2025 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Poston and Rev. Franklin Sexton officiating. Interment will follow at the Indian Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery with Military Rites by the Army National Guard. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
