Betty Jean Slusher Mannon was born November 25, 1929 to George and Callie Slusher in Floyd County, Virginia. She died December 22, 2016 after a brief illness at the age of 87. Betty learned the hard work of farm life on her father's farm and her creativity in sewing and crafts from her mother. She married Carnice Mannon on December 26, 1950.
