Wanda B. Dickerson’s earthly journey
ended peacefully Saturday, September 3, 2016. She was surrounded by her loved
ones.
She was preceded in death by her husband
of almost 62 years John Dickerson; parents, Evie and Roy Whitaker, son-in-law
Early Alderman, and granddaughter, Angie Miller.
Wanda leaves behind her children and
in-laws, Belinda Alderman, Nana and Iven Miller, Judy Dickerson, Wanda Mae and
Vergil Hale, Richard and Deborah L. Dickerson, Deborah and Dale Elmore. Also
Surviving are grandchildren Mickey and Anita Alderman, Barry Alderman, Angela
Alderman, Teresa and Darren Penrose, April Gilbert, Robert and Stuart Reed,
Kevin Long, Daniel Hale and Alaina Dickerson. She also had ten great grandchildren,
numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends, two special friends Trena and
David Meador.
Wanda was a long time member of Pleasant
Valley Church of the Brethren. She loved her church and her church family. She
was small in stature but was a giant in faith and had the strength and courage
of a lion.
The family would like to thank the staff
of Skyline Nursing and Rehab, also Dr. Gary Kuiken and staff.
The family will be receiving visitors on
Monday, September 5, 2016 at Maberry Funeral Home in Floyd between 5:00-7:00
p.m. Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Roy Turpin on Tuesday,
September 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Services will be held at Pleasant Valley Church
of the Brethren located at 3883 Alum Ridge Road NW, Floyd, Virginia. Interment
will follow at the church cemetery.
Flowers will be appreciated or donations
may be made to Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren, 3883 Alum Ridge Road,
Floyd, VA 24091.
