Delia Gertrude Price Turner, 89 of Floyd, went to her heavenly home on Monday, June 1, 2015 after a lengthy illness. “Granny Gert” as she was known to many, will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Born January 22, 1926 in Floyd County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Willie G. and Eliza Price. She is predeceased by her husband Sam P. Turner; her son Marvin O. Turner; two brothers, Herbert and Richard Price; and five sisters, Mary Ann Price, Ellen Stevenson, Ora Lee Palmer, Pauline Helm, and Annie Bell Price.
She is survived by three children: daughter, Gayle Maybin of Houston, TX., sons and daughters-in-law, Bascil and Gwen Turner of Roanoke, Va., and Carlton “C.W.”Turner of Floyd, Va.; Rhonda Turner Holland of Floyd, Va., and Diane Turner of Christiansburg, Va.; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Little River Cemetery on Poor Farm Road with the Rev. Clinton Crump officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Little River Missionary Baptist Church, Floyd, Va.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the staff at Skyline Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Floyd, Va., Gladys Vaughn, and many others that visited her throughout her stay at Skyline.
