Elmer "Spud" Lane Webb




Elmer “Spud” Lane Webb of Roanoke, formerly of Floyd, Virginia passed away Friday, January 1, 2016 at the age of 97. 
  
Spud was a WWII combat veteran, and recipient of the Purple Heart. He retired from Halmode Apparel, after which he and his wife Treatise, returned to farm land originally purchased by his parents George C. Webb, Sr. and Elitha Brimm Webb in 1922.


He is preceded in death by his wife Treatise Webb, brothers Harry Webb, Early Webb, George C. Webb, Jr., and twin brother Delmer “Buster” Webb, as well as sisters, Odell Graham and Bertha Schoolcraft. He is survived by sisters, Claudine Browning (Joe) and Nettie W. Brown; sisters-in-law, Mavin Steele (Jack) and Coreen Martin;  brother-in-law, Arlie Thompson;  numerous nieces and nephews. Uncle Spud was like a second father to many of them. 

Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, January 4, 2016, at the Salem Primitive Baptist Church (Head of the River)  with Elder Larry Hollandsworth officiating. The interment will follow at Restvale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-5:00pm on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd VA.

Martha "Marty" Radford



Martha “Marty” Webb Radford, 72, of Floyd, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015.  She had retired from Aerial October 2014.

 She is survived by her son, Harold Harman; daughters, Melissa Reed, Linda Radford; brother, Arvin Webb; sisters, Sue Thomas, Belle Hylton, and Vivian Hylton.
 Funeral service will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Maberry Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeff Dalton officiating. Interment will follow at the Maple Shade Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, prior to the funeral service. Arrangements by Maberry Funeral Home.

Beulah Mae Walker Bolt



Beulah Mae Walker Bolt, 88 of Floyd, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015.  She was preceded in death by her husband Venson Bolt.

She is survived by her children, Mark Bolt and Rebekah Bolt; granddaughter, Nikki Bolt; sister, Eula W. Thompson; nieces, Gail Gibson and Diane Cheney; nephew, Wayne Thompson; special friend, Margaret Harris.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Topeco Church of the Brethren with Pastor Mike Varner, Pastor Roy Turpin and Rev. Vinton Quesenberry officiating with interment in the Topeco Cemetery.  Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.

The family would like to say thank you to the many friends that visited and have expressed their love and concern for their mother.   They also want to thank Skyline Nursing & Rehab and Good Samaritan Hospice for the exceptional care they provided to her.

Thelma Joann Slusher Overstreet

Thelma Joann Slusher Overstreet, 81, of Hopewell, Virginia, formely of Floyd, passed away Monday, December 7, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Kenneth Overstreet, Sr.; brothers, Paul Slusher, James Slusher, Arnold Slusher, and Price Slusher.
She is survived by her children, Kenny Overstreet, Jr. (Dianne), Roger Overstreet and Cathy Mason; granddaughter, Brittany Mason; sister, Glenna Weddle; several loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m.,  Friday, December 11, 2015 at Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with speaker Tommy Slusher officiating with interment in the Laurel Branch Cemetery.  Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to service.

Chlonetia Martin Thompson




Chlonetia Martin Thompson, 92 of Floyd, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015.  She was predeceased by her sister, Treatise Webb; brothers, Elvin Martin and Benson Martin.

Remembered for her extraordinary cooking, she loved preparing meals for family and especially taking food to workers for her husband at the station and the hayfield.  She was loving and devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren.  Famously known as the “cake Lady” in her church family.   

She is survived by the love of her life for 76 years, Arlie R. Thompson,  whom she has been  married to for 73 years; children, Dale Thompson (Liz), Brenda Thompson Weeks, R.J. Thompson (Korene), Linda Diane T. Midkiff (Randal), Danny Thompson (Martha); sister, Mavin Steele (Jack); brother-in-law, Elmer L. Webb;sister-in-law, Corinne Martin;Seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 3, 2015  at Salem Primitive Baptist (Head of the River) with Elder Carl Terry and Elder Larry Hollandsworth officiating.  Interment will follow in the Restvale Cemetery.  Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Maberry Funeral Home.

Mary Linda Boothe



Mary Linda Boothe, 65, of Meadows of Dan, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester A. and Bessie Marie Hylton. She is survived by her daughter, Angie Boothe; brother, William Henry Boothe; and her pet cats, Budger and Squealer.
Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2015 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dale Belcher and Pastor Marcus Wood officiating. The interment will follow in the Hylton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
