Linda Duncan Sutherland


Linda D. Sutherland, 61, of Floyd, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday December 30, 2014. She was a Bornagain Christian and had retired from Volvo.  She also worked as bookkeeper for the family business.  She was a devoted family nurse to her children, grandchildren, parents and siblings.


She is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Betty Duncan. She is survived by her husband, John Sutherland; son, John Randolph, IV (Mary Beth) and daughter, Lori (Nick) Charles; grandchildren, Dakota, Tanner, MaKenna, and Brayden Reed, Jade and Sophie Sutherland; brother, Eugene (Robin) Duncan; sister, Judy Ann Lester; nieces, Melissa (David) Mathis, Angie (Anthony) Hixon, Jenny (Robbie) Bain, Kayla Duncan, Summer Duncan, and Breanna Sowers; nephews David (Frances) Brown, Shannon Ratcliffe, and Wesley Duncan; aunts, Ester Griffith, Rosie (Gene) Altizer, Bernice (Russell) Akers, Ruth (James) Moran; uncles, Marlie (Thelma) Duncan, Edward Altizer, Teddy Altizer, Tazewell Altizer, Lawrence (Marti) Altizer, Phillip (Norma) Altizer, Tommy Altizer; mother-in-law  Ethel (Ross) Peacemaker; sisters-in-laws, Mary (Billy) Underwood, Ruth Ann (Shirley) Boothe, Wilma Lee(Bill)Simpkins, Judy(Cecil) Roop; and her walking companion, Slide.


Funeral Services will be held at 2p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Alum Ridge Community Church. Interment will follow in the Alum Ridge Community Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Thursday, January 1, 2015 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel.
