Ethel Worrell McPeak


Ethel Worrell McPeak, 94, of Pilot, Virginia went to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 28, 2014. She was born November 11, 1919 in W.Va.  She lived most of her life in Floyd and Pilot, Va. Ethel was the daughter of the late Rev. George C. Worrell and Eura Spangler Worrell. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Wesley H. McPeak. She was active in church throughout her life; teaching Sunday School, choir leader and helping with other needs of the church.  Ethel was an excellent cook, loved trying new recipes and looked forward to her annual vegetable garden. Her family described her as one of the most kind, loving and generous persons they have known. She is preceded in death by 12 siblings, one daughter, Lena Faye, and survived by sisters Mildred Barnett, Willie Marie Hill of Virginia and Dorothy Keaton of Pipestem, W.Va.  She is also survived by six children and two foster children:  Evelyn Vest and husband Michael of Check, Bonnie Cardwell and husband Jerry of Riner, Archie McPeak and wife Carolyn, Everette McPeak and wife Linda of Pilot, Marie Culbertson and husband Phil of Vinton and Joyce Kershaw and husband Drew of Providence Forge, Bobby Cooper of Pilot and Willie Cooper of Christiansburg. Survived by 8 grandchildren: Larry Willis, Connie McPeak Haven,  Timmy Boone, Tracy Boone Carico, Steven McPeak, Kelly McPeak Soca, Matthew McPeak, A.J. McPeak and brother Trevor Smith.  19 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. till 9 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the Huffville United Methodist Church, 1078 Huffville Road, Pilot, Va. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Huffville Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Kingrea and the Rev. David Sisson officiating. Interment to follow at the Huffville Cemetery.
