Edvard Pucelj

Edvard Pucelj, 60, of Christiansburg, Virginia passed away at home on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. Edvard was born in Belgrade, Serbia, on February 7, 1961. He is preceded in death by his parents, Milan and Liliana Pucelj. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Emily Pucelj; son, Milan Pucelj; daughter, Adriana Pucelj; sister, Ana Pucelj; and his extended family. 

Edvard was someone who would help anyone in need, a backbone for his family and friends.  His strength carried him through until the very end. He never met a stranger and had a warm smile for everyone.  Edvard’s family was his entire world, always putting them first, a proud father of his two Hokies.  A hard worker who spent his life providing for those he loved the most. Even though his journey was cut short, he made a lasting impact on this world. He was a devout Catholic who was firm in his religion. His children say he was the definition of bravery, fighting every battle with a smile. Edvard spent half of his life living in Southeastern Europe, before coming to America.  Even though Serbian was Edvard’s predominant language, he learned English upon his arrival to America and became fluent very quickly.  His journey may have not started in America, but he made it his home and he truly loved this country.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, located at 367 S. Locust St. in Floyd, Virginia. Father John Asare will be conducting the funeral service at the Chapel, following the conclusion of the funeral service Edvard will be laid to rest at Jacksonville Cemetery in Floyd, Virginia. The family will receive friends and colleagues from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. before the service at the funeral home.

Edvard will be truly missed but never forgotten. Edvard will forever live in the hearts of his loved ones, and his extended family and friends.  We love you Eddie, and we will all miss you terribly.

Freeda Bartel Sowers

 

Freeda Bartel Sowers, 91 of Floyd, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021. She is preceded in death by her husband, Noah F. Sowers; parents, William Lawrence & Laura E. Thomas Bartel; sister & brother-in-law, Essie & Marion D. Long; twin sister, Majorie D. Bartel; brother, Harold Bartel; and brother-in-law, James Thornton.

She is survived by her children & their spouses, Alice S. & Wayne Bradbury, Curtis R. & Loyce Sowers, and Mark A. & Teresa Sowers; grandchildren, Tracy Facteau, Matt Bradbury, Chase Lowe (Kittie), Ciera Boyd (Logan) and Shasta Sowers (Adam Wilson); great-grandchildren, Anna and Henry Boyd; sister, Tressie B. Thornton; and nephews, Geary Long and Tim Long.  

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 in the Laurel Branch Church of the Brethren with Pastor Angela Carr officiating. Interment will follow in the Laurel Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel.

Michael Grey Spence

 

Michael Grey Spence, 69 of Rich Creek, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021.

Raised in Willis, VA he was the youngest child of Arthur D. Spence, Jr. and Virginia Newman Spence, both of whom precede him in death.

After graduation in 1971 from Floyd County High School, he traveled from Texas to New York working as a chef in several resorts.

Survivors include his brothers & sisters-in-law, Arthur D. Spence, III. (Marie) and James D. “Jimmy” Spence (Janie); sister & brother-in-law, Katie S. Vest (James); nieces and nephew, Michelle England (Keith), Melissa Cox (Greg), Gretchen Gleim (Tommy), Neeley Russell (Philip), and James Brian Vest (Jimmy); several great nieces and nephews; special friends, David & Becky Horton; and his furry companion, Daisy.

Per Mike’s request, there will be no services.

Lois Walker Earles

 

Lois Walker Earles, 90 of Riner, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Earles; son, Jimmy Earles; grandchildren, Ursula Woolwine and Jason Earles; great-grandson, Tray Turley; and four siblings.                                                                              

Lois was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her and a faithful Christian. 

She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Donald G. Earles; sons & daughter-in-law, Johnny Earles and Joey & Terri Earles; daughters & sons-in-law, Wanda & Gene Furrow and Vickie & Kenny Waller; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2021 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Greg Poff and Pastor Kenny Wurzburger officiating. Interment will follow in the Farris Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 2021 at the funeral home.

Lorene E. Long

Lorene Erma Eaton Long was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Lillie Hooker Eaton and Fred Eaton on December 1, 1929, along with her twin sister, Evelyn. Growing up in Winston-Salem as one of seven children, Lorene and Evelyn shared a special twin bond that connected them throughout their lives.

She became mother to Linda Marshall after marrying Bill Marshall, eventually divorcing and re-marrying James McCuiston, whom she met at her job as a bomb inspector at Western Electric; together, they completed their family with daughter Cynthia McCuiston, Denise McCuiston, and Daniel McCuiston. Lorene and James divorced, and Lorene married Henry “Hank” Hundley, and they both retired from Western Electric (then AT&T). Together with Hank—the true love of her life—they bought land in Willis, Virginia, and built a mountain home and lake, where they enjoyed their retirement fishing, and gardening until Hank’s untimely death. Lorene then sold their mountain home and land, and moved to Mount Airy to live near her sister, Marie. There, she had a brief marriage to Al Long, which ended in divorce. The last years of her life, she spent with her daughter, Cynthia, who was her caretaker, in Lewisville, NC, enjoying time at the Williams Senior Center, and summer afternoons spent on the front porch, watching humming birds, and eating ice cream.

Lorene is survived by her sister, Velma Ashley (Hayward) of South Carolina; daughter, Linda Urbano of New York, daughter, Cynthia Kiger, of North Carolina,  daughter, Denise Lawrence (Ron) of North Carolina; son, Daniel McCuiston (Alice) of Kentucky; and grandchildren, Rachel Rabinowitz, of New York, Ian Lawrence, of Colorado, Bonnie Lawrence, of California, and Sonsera Kiger, of North Carolina.

Funeral services will be held at Noon on Thursday, July 8, 2021 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Roy Turpin officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until Noon prior to the service at the funeral home.

Elder Edward Alan Terry

 

Elder Edward Alan Terry, 83, of Meadows of Dan and formerly of Floyd, Virginia passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at his home. He was born in Patrick County on November 22, 1937.

Elder Terry was a member of New Bell Spur Primitive Baptist Church and had pastored at five Primitive Baptist churches; Old Hollow Church in Mt. Airy NC, Camp Branch Church in Figsboro, New Dan River Church in Vesta,  New Bell Spur Church in Meadows of Dan, and Old Center Church in Franklin County. He served his Primitive Baptist Churches with Faith and Love for a great many years.

Elder Terry was preceded in death by his father, William Hugh Terry; mother, Cora Ilene Hale Terry Clifton; a daughter, Deborah Patterson; and brothers James Lee Terry, William Hale Terry, and George Thomas Terry.

Elder Terry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Hallie Loraine Terry of the home; two sons, Gary Edward Terry (wife Mary) of Rocky Mount and Victor Alan Terry (wife Veronica) of Moneta. Two daughters,  Rhonda Terry of Christiansburg, and Glenda Robinette of Roanoke; eight grandchildren, Stacie Yaunsem, Eric Huff, Bobby Joe Robinette, Kelly Robinette, Sean Patterson, James Patterson, Daniel Terry, and Erika Terry; and six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marie Bowman of Meadows of Dan, Ruth Hall of Hillsville, and Jane Largen of Dugspur.

Funeral services for Elder Terry will be held Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 11 a.m. at New Bell Spur Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Mark Terry officiating, Elder Carl Terry, and Elder Cleo Robertson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, July 2, 2021 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the New Bell Spur Primitive Baptist Church.

Charles Larry Henley

Charles Larry Henley, 80 of Roanoke, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021.

He was a lifelong member of the Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Indian Valley, VA. He retired from Ingersoll Rand in Roanoke, where he was employed for 27 years.

He is preceded in death by his mother & father, Treva & Lewis Henley.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Phyllis Jane Henley; sons & daughters-in-law, David & Terri Henley and Jonathan & Anne Henley; step-son, Keith Parks; step-daughters & step-son-in-law, Robin & Rex Allen and Renee Farmer; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 13 step great-grandchildren; brother & sister-in-law, Donald & Joyce Henley; sister & brother-in-law, Anna May & Carmen Roop; sisters-in-law & brother-in-law, Linda & Ernie Harris and Mary Boseley; and several nieces and nephews.

Regina Kay Bolt Dalton

 

It is with great sadness that the family of Regina Kay Bolt Dalton announce her passing on Friday afternoon, June 25, 2021. Regina was born into her earthly family on August 28, 1959 in Hillsville Virginia and born into her heavenly family at an early age. She was very active in her church life by using her special talents of piano and voice to praise her Savior.

Even through her struggles with Multiple Sclerosis during the past 14 years of her life, she remained very active in her efforts to support others with the same debilitating disease by organizing the Twin County MS support group. She fought for the cause to find a cure by organizing annual fund raisers with the MS Walk and Ride. Regina was forever a Floyd County High School Buffalo and remained connected with many of her class of 1977 friends through Facebook and social media.

Regina is survived by her parents, S.G. and Pauline Burnette Bolt of Willis, VA. Her children Daniel Dalton, and Autumn Stanley (Jacob) of Hillsville, she cherished her grandchildren and they were the light of her life: Dakota Dalton, Harley and Ryan Stanley, Jaicey Dalton, Elijah and Colton Dalton-Smith. She is also survived by her siblings and spouses, Joy and Tom Slusher of Hillsville, Ronnie and Karen Bolt of Floyd, Janice and Richard Midkiff of Dugspur. Many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews also mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Theodore and Gracie Alderman Bolt and Rufus and Daisy Gardner Burnette.

The Memorial Service will be conducted by Rev. Dewey Weaver at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 11:00 AM with the family visitation on Monday, June 28, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel. Interment will be at Gardner Memorial Cemetery.

Dana Lemon Danis, 50 of Floyd, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021. She is preceded in death by her father, Wayne Lemon; grandparents, Doug & Twila Reed and Sidney & Mildred Lemon; and great-grandparents, Cecil & Claris Reed.

She is survived by her husband, Russell Danis, Sr.; children, Russell Danis, Jr., Natasha & Charles Leonard, and Michelle Danis; grandchildren, Josiah & Lilly Leonard; mother, Donna & Don Johnson; brothers, Jim Lemon and John Lemon; and one niece, Ayla Lemon.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2021 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Topeco Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Roger Lee Dickerson

Roger Lee Dickerson, 71 of Floyd, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert & Gladys Dickerson; and his siblings, Albert, Jr., Howard, Jim, Wayne, Lucille, Helen, and Johnson.

Roger was a member of the Floyd Moose Lodge #2300 since 2003 as well as a member of Floyd Baptist Church.

He is survived by his brother, Russell Dickerson; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 in the Beaver Creek Cemetery with Pastor Roy Turpin officiating.

Lawrence Brown McGrady

 

Lawrence McGrady, 93, a longtime resident of Floyd entered his heavenly home Sunday, June 13, 2021. He was a resident of English Meadows Assisted Living, Blacksburg, VA. He is preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Minnie and Wyatt McGrady; his sisters, Pauline and Christine; and his brothers, Clayton, Ray, Glenn, George, Junior, and Robert.

He leaves his wife of 74 years, Rosie McGrady; his daughters & son-in-law, Joyce McGrady and Janice and Larry Weeks; grandchildren, Jessica Cromer (Michael Lytton), Joshua Cromer, Jason Weeks (Donna), Travis Weeks (Katie); and a special great-granddaughter, Kaylee Wood. He will also be remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family of dear friends.

He grew up in the great depression which taught him to be very thrifty. He loved farming, gardening, fishing, and often trading lawnmowers and vehicles. His smile would light up the room and he was always willing to help anyone. He spread his testimony for his love of the Lord to everyone he passed in life. We know he had a new Chevrolet truck waiting for him at the pearly gates.

He farmed for a living for many years and later retired from Lynchburg Foundry.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 18, 2021 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Roy Turpin officiating. Interment will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Velma Mae Reed Townley

Velma Mae Reed Townley, 95 of Floyd, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 13, 2021 with her children by her side.

Velma was a humble, Christian woman who loved her family and always put them first. Velma worked many years at Floyd Garment Factory before retiring to take care of her mother. Velma was a lifelong member of Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren.

She was the daughter of the late Walter Sidney Reed and Amanda Ellen Keith Reed. She is also preceded by her husband of 56 years, Sanford Reed Townley; brothers and sisters, Edna Bishop, Elvin Reed, Ima Cannaday, Elsie Dudley, and Melvin Reed; and special friend, Laureen Reed.

Survivors include her children, Sandra & Tom Vaughn, Shirley McKinney, Sam & Loretta Townley, and Joan Townley; seven grandchildren, Lynn Coffey, Tina Vaughn, Sharon Quesenberry, John Vaughn, Wynn Boone, Deanna Johnston, and Autumn Garofola; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Velma Reed and Nell Townley; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Mattie Harris.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at the Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren with Pastor Richard Thomas and Pastor Marvin Wade officiating. Interment will follow in the Beaver Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service at the church.

Shirley Ann Dalton

 

Shirley Ann Dalton, 74 of Willis, passed away on June 10, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth & Velma Wygal; brothers, Ebby Wygal and Jack Reed; and sister & brother-in-law, Betty & Joe Thomas.

Shirley was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and worker. She took pride in her family and her work as a social worker.

She is survived by her husband, Franklin A. Dalton; children, Stephen Drennen & wife Sandy, Lori L. Lambert, Stephanie D. Hodge; grandchildren, Rebecca (Alan), Leighann (Chad), Charmane (Raul), Roger (Kristen), Jacob (Mara), and Celeste; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Larry Wygal.

Geneva A. Cox

Geneva A. Cox, 72 of Christiansburg, went to her Heavenly Home on June 11, 2021, with her loving husband, Allen, by her side. Geneva was born and raised in Floyd County, in the Alum Ridge area. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aaron and Ada Altizer; and one sister, Chloe Bishop.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 55 years, Allen; three daughters, Angelia Quickery (Steven), April Kegley (Stan), and Allison Alderman (Scott); six wonderful grandchildren, Mac Quickery, Peyton Quickery, Kinsey Kegley, Seth Kegley, Drew Alderman, Luke Alderman; sisters, Ellen Spence (Carlie) and Hattie Ethel Trail.

Geneva was truly one of a kind – a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She greeted everyone with her beautiful smile and vivacious personality. She was blessed with a servant heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. Some of her many talents were oil painting, crafts and home decorating. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Geneva retired from First National Bank of Christiansburg, now Atlantic Union Bank, where she served as Senior Vice President of Marketing.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tim Hight officiating. Interment will follow in the Sumpter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the funeral home.

Kenny Leon Pack

Kenny Leon Pack, 53 of Floyd, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021. He is preceded in death by his mother, Linda Harris Pack; and grandparents, Warden Brown & Lorene Harris, and Carl & Julia Pack.

Kenny was a loving son, brother, uncle, & friend to all. We all know he never met a stranger. He was the life of the party; always cutting up with his quick wit filling every room with laughter. We will all hold a special place in our hearts for him. May he rest in peace.

He is survived by his father, Thomas Pack; girlfriend, Meagan May; sisters & brother-in-law, Kim Whitlock, Kathy Smith (Mike), and Chris Pack; nephews and niece, Robbie “Heads” Whitlock (Mollie), Kayla “Trebus” Whitlock (Isaiah Griffith), Cody “Toadster” Smith, Brandon “Mr. Johnson” Smith, and Skylar “Skylark” Davis; great-niece and great-nephew, Ridley “Ridlinator” Whitlock and Macklan “Pod” Whitlock; and his beloved dog, Gracie.

Phillip Joseph Sowers

Phillip Joseph Sowers, 37 of Floyd, departed this earth on Saturday, June 5, 2021. He is preceded in death by his loving mother, Karen Repass Sowers; and his grandfathers, James B. Repass and Chester H. Sowers.

He is survived by his grandmothers, Pauline Repass and Claudine Sowers; his father and step-mother, Joseph C. & Vickie Sowers; his sister & brother-in-law, Suzanne S. & Monty Yearout; two special nieces, Caroline and Jordan; his beloved son, Wyatt Phillip Sowers; and Wyatt’s mother, Melissa M. Sowers; as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members and friends.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2021 in the Jacksonville Cemetery with Pastor Timothy Hale officiating.  

Thurman Wray

 

Thurman Wray, 88 of Floyd, went to his Heavenly Home on June 7, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving and faithful wife of nearly 65 years, Bonnie S. Wray; two sons & daughters-in-law, James & Renee Wray of Largo, FL and Ricky & Jennifer Wray of Austinville, VA; three daughters & sons-in-law, Terry & Donald Epperly of Riner, Judy & Robert Reed of Floyd, and Tracy & Bobby Glover of Cumming, GA; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters & brothers-in-law, Corine Albert, Mary & Harold Mullins, and Wanda Nolley; brothers & sisters-in-law, Charlie & Sette Wray, and Eileen Wray.

He is preceded in death by one grandson; brothers & sisters-in-law, Herman Wray (his twin), Rufus & Glenna Wray, Herbert & Judy Wray, and John Wayne Wray; sisters & brothers-in-law, Annie & Wilmer Harris, Ruth & Russell Young, R.K. Albert, Vernon Nolley, and Emma Jean Wray. 

Thurman was a long time member of New Haven Baptist Church in Floyd. He was employed by Citizens Telephone Co. for 30 ½ years.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the New Haven Baptist Church with Pastor James Cockram, Pastor Leon Wood, and Pastor Allen Agee officiating. Interment will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel.

Linda Jean Jones Huff

Linda Jean Jones Huff was welcomed by the angels into her Heavenly Home on Monday, June 7, 2021.

She was born on December 31, 1967 to Leonard J. Jones and Annie Boothe Jones. She graduated from Floyd County High School in 1986. Her last employment was Wal-Mart in Rocky Mount where she was a Customer Service Manager. Linda fought a courageous battle with Type 1 Diabetes since her teenage years. Her faith in God, strength, courage, and determination was an inspiration to everyone she came in contact with. She made a point of reading her Bible daily. While in a nursing home for many years, she inspired her family and others through paint by number picture apps that she would post on social media. She also posted daily scriptures that always uplifted us.

Her greatest achievement was her daughter, Angela, who she called her “mini me”. Speaking of Linda’s determination, she said she wanted to live to see Angela graduate from high school. She wasn’t able to attend, but was able to have a graduation party at the nursing home and watch the ceremony on TV.

Linda is preceded in death by her father, Leonard J. Jones; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Ocie & Doc Huff; brother-in-law, Paul Carroll; and sister-in-law, Melinda Huff.

Those left to cherish her memory and be forever thankful for her impact on our lives are her daughter, Angela Gail Huff; spouse, James Huff; mother, Annie B. Our hearts are broken. Your passing has left a tremendous void in our lives. We find comfort knowing you are truly healed and that we will all be reunited in our Heavenly Father’s Mansion.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 11, 2021 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randel Harris and Pastor Dan Agee officiating. Interment will follow in the Beaver Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Nell Jane Hylton Long

Nell Jane Hylton Long, 84 of Christiansburg, went to be with her Heavenly Father on June 6, 2021 with her husband by her side. She was born on May 2, 1937 to Early C. Hylton & Ila Alderman Hylton.

In 1995, she retired from Radford University after working 25 years at Radford University Post Office. She was a member of Christiansburg Church of the Brethren for over 50 years, sang in the choir for many years, and also served as deacon in the church. Gardening, photographing God’s creation, and singing in church cantatas were some of her many blessings to others.

She is a loving mother, grandmother, and GiGi to her beloved great-grandchildren. Her family has been the love of her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Early C. Hylton and Ila Alderman Hylton; and her brother, David Earl Hylton.

Nell is survived by her husband of almost 64 years, Stanley J. Long; daughter & son-in-law, Sharon Elaine & Ted Heller; son & daughter-in-law, Randy Lane & Lita Long; sister-in-law, Gloria Hylton; seven grandchildren, Randy Long II (April), Amy Johnson (Caleb), Ellen Goad (Cameron), Samuel Long, Katie Heller, Michael Heller, and Abbi Heller; seven great-grandchildren, Noah, Zaya, Naomi, Uzziah, Judah, Zuri, and Eve; and nephew, Greg Hylton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2021 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Stover officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Randall Lee Jamison

 

A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, Randall Lee Jamison, 69, of Floyd, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack at work on Saturday, 5/22/2021. He is survived by Kathleen Jamison (his wife) two brothers, Steve Jamison (Brenda) and Ray Jamison (Angela), his three children, Jason (Kim), Marty (Megan), and Alethea, and three grandchildren: Lilliana (19), Draedon (15), and Emerald (2). He was born on 3/10/1952 in Roanoke, Virginia, and currently resided in Floyd, Virginia. He graduated from Cave Spring High School in1970 and received Architectural Degree from Virginia Tech in 1975.

Randy owned a consignment store in Christiansburg, VA, “The Designer Consigner”. He had a private architectural practice and was an AIA affiliate. He also held a position for President Clinton’s New River Consortium and was a tourism start-up director for the localities in our area. He spent several years on the Board of Directors for the Jacksonville Center for the Arts in Floyd.  He married Kathleen on 9/1/1990 while living in Virginia Beach when he also became the father to the three children. They moved to Floyd in 1991 where they spent the next 30 years living, growing and experiencing life together.

Randy believed you didn’t need a traditional education as much as developing a trade or talent to feed yourself and family and contribute to the community in which you lived. He was 36 years sober and a living example of a second chance at life. He loved his dogs and Arabian horses.  He loved his community and the unique places in our nearby localities and worked to serve the community in his shop. He is much loved and is missed beyond words.

A life-celebration community “pot-luck picnic” will be held Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Bisset Park, Shelter #2, from 4-7 PM in Radford, Virginia. Anyone knowing and loving Randy is invited. Please bring a chair(s) and a covered dish or packaged food to share after the music and stories. The dress is casual.
