Iris "Colleen" Cox

 

Iris ‘Colleen’ Cox, 93, of Copper Valley, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Highland Ridge Rehab surrounded by her family.

Colleen was born on December 10. 1928 in Floyd County and was the daughter of the late Chrisley and Evie Duncan. She is preceded in death by her husband Elder Jack Willard Cox, her son, Andrew Cox, daughter-in-law, Judy Rutrough Cox, and son-in-law, Roger Holdren.

Colleen was the oldest surviving member of Old Union Primitive Baptist Church of Indian Valley. She will always be remembered for her home cooked meals and making you feel at home. Nobody ever left her house hungry.

Left to cherish her memory is her children: David (Dianne) Cox, Joe (Teresa) Cox, Sam (Dana) Cox, Faye Holdren, Mike Cox, and Arthur (Wanita) Cox. Colleen is survived by her grandchildren, Todd Cox, Marsha Phillips, Michele Cox, Brian Cox, Jason Cox, Thomas Cox, Chris Cox, Amanda Atkinson, Matthew Cox, and Alice Cox. She is also survived by several beloved great grandchildren and a special cousin, Jimmy Dean Duncan (Sherry).

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Raymond Goad officiating. The interment will follow at at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Maberry Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank Highland Ridge Rehab Center and Good Samaritan Hospice for the care given to our mom in her last days.

Flowers are appreciated, but donations in Colleen’s memory may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice or Indian Valley Fire and Rescue.
