Nelson Paul Manning


Nelson Paul Manning, 76 of Copper Hill, passed from this earthly life to his eternal Heavenly life on Friday, November 30, 2018. Paul was born on September 20, 1942 in Copper Hill, VA. He is preceded in death by his father, Oliver W. Manning; mother, Nellie Wimmer Manning; half-brothers, Cleve, Herbert, Melvin and Calvin (Jim) Manning; half-sisters, May and Cammie Manning, and Bondeen Barger. His brothers, Oliver, Jr., Bobby, Benny, Terry, and David Manning also precede him.



Left to cherish his memory are, brothers, Henry, Rocky, Larry & wife Rhonda, and Michael Manning; two sisters & brothers-in-law, Linda & Tom Iddings and Katherine & Junior Sowers; sisters-in-law, Carmen Manning and Karen Nicholson; numerous nieces and nephews.



Paul was a quiet, gentle, and humble man. He proudly served in the United States Army. In his younger days, his life revolved around playing ball with his brothers and attending races. He drove a oil/gas truck for many years in Floyd and Roanoke County. Later in life, Paul enjoyed mowing yards for folks in the Bent Mountain and Copper Hill areas and watching sports.



Funeral Service will be held on at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018 at the Copper Hill Church of the Brethren with Pastor Dan Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Copper Hill Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel.



The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Virginia Veterans Care Center and Maberry Funeral Home for their concern and care. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations sent to Copper Hill Church of the Brethren, 8838 Floyd Hwy N, Copper Hill, VA 24079.
