Charlotte Janie Bennington Collier, 74 of Floyd, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018. She was born in Galax Virginia on October 29, 1943 to the late James and Reva Tolliver Boyer. She is preceded in death by her husband George Marshall Collier; sisters, Barbara Faye Adams, and Carolyn Joyce Phillips and her brothers, Clayton Mitchell Boyer and Jimmy Ray Boyer.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Anna and Jack Morton, Charlotte Vanessa and Bobby Clark, Tracey Denise Bennington, Laura Hope Vass; grandchildren, Jessi Hylton Warren (Jamie), Dr. Jordan Hylton Risden (David), Mitch Clark, Jarad Morton (Gina), Ashley Morton (Kelly), Christopher Lister (Kaitlin), William Todd Vass (Michelle), Dr. Courtney LeeAnna Myers, Tanner David Bennington; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Dean Warren, Asa James Warren, Ethan Morton, Stella Mae Summerlin, Kylin Vance Lister, Easton Knox Lister; sister, Kathy B. Harris; special daughter, Diane Hollandsworth; very special friend, Lynn DeHart; her companion (dog) Dabo.
There was nothing she enjoyed more than cooking and feeding others. She loved sharing her recipes and cooking skills. She also enjoyed bird watching. She cherished her great-grandchildren. Nothing brought a smile to her face and a light in her eyes quicker than one of her grands or great-grands to come through that front door.
Memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Maberry Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Dalton officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. prior to the service.
