Lilas Hollandsworth Higgs Webb

Our precious Mother, Lilas Hollandsworth Higgs Webb, 90, of Floyd, VA, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 17, 2015 while she was surrounded by her loving children at Lewis Gale Medical Center.  Lilas was born on September 3, 1925, to her late parents, Taswell and Ocie Hollandsworth. 
She is survived by her children: Betty (Gary) Crawford, Maggie (Charles) Sutphin, Dian (Garad) Williams and Harold (Amy) Higgs and her step-children: Thelma Via and Frances Helms.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ottis Higgs and Luther Webb of whom she was caregiver of both for many years; grandson, Mark Sutphin,  daughter-in-law Donna Higgs and sisters, Winnie Dalton and Beulah Quesenberry. 
Lilas is also survived by her much-loved grandchildren: Debbie (Mark) Sutphin, Kimberly (Jay) Streicher, John Sutphin, Michael (Kim) Williams, Travis (Dani) Higgs and Bryan (Arielle) Higgs;  step-grandchildren: Chance (Danielle) Crawford and Christian Crawford, Phillip Becher, Andrew Becher; great grandchildren: Corey Sutphin, Cameron Sutphin,  Isaiah Higgs, Joshua Streicher, Mackenzie Williams, Olivia Streicher, Virginia Higgs, Sydney Williams and Caleb Williams; and step-great grandchildren and families: Gabe (Traci) Vest, Heidi (James)  Edwards and Carrie (Scott) Payne. 
Also surviving are sisters: Irene Gallimore, Anita Quesenberry, Nina Browning, Vada Cox, Josephine Alderman, Brenda Howell, Wanda Grubb and Martha Bower;  brother: Ren Hollandsworth; sister-in-law: Mary Higgs and a host of other relatives and friends.
Lilas was a member of Floyd Baptist Church where in the past she sang in the choir and enjoyed her ministry in the church nursery. Special thanks to all who lovingly helped care for Mom during her illness.  Also, thanks for all the special acts of kindness shown to Mom and family that are too numerous to mention.
Funeral will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Maberry Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Hudgins officiationg with interment to follow in the Captain George Cemetery.  Family will receive friends 11a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Arrangements by Maberry Funeral Home.
