Herbert "Herb" Junior Shelton

Herbert “Herb” Junior Shelton, 87 of Salem, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ulysses & Ruby Turpin Shelton; sister, Annie Dickerson; and brothers, Grover, Dallas, Ray, Roy, and Harold Shelton.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Maggie Midkiff Shelton; son & daughter-in-law, Kenneth (Kenny) Shelton & Kim; daughter & son-in-law, Darlene Shelton Wolfe & Rick; grandson, Jakob (Jake) Shelton & Brittany; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn & Izzy; sister, Faye Bolt; sisters-in-law & brother-in-law, Nelva Shelton, Jane Shelton, and Barbara & Mike Testerman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2019 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eugene Mills and Rev. Clay Dalton officiating. Interment will follow in the Countyline Cemetery with Military Rites by Floyd V.F.W. Post #7854 and American Legion Post #127. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Virginia Phillips Quesenberry

Virginia Phillips Quesenberry, 89 of Willis passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. She is preceded in death by her husband, Victor Quesenberry; and parents, Dorcie & Almedia Phillips.

She is survived by her son, Kevin V. Quesenberry; daughter & son-in-law, Carolyn & David Pratt; grandchildren, Andrea Elzowry, Joshua Pratt(Brandi), Taylor Quesenberry (Rachel), and Asher Quesenberry; and great-grandchildren, Miranda Harris, Andrew Harris, Harley Delorie, Coen Pratt, Liam Pratt, Christian Pratt, and Lola Pratt. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the Topeco Church of the Brethren with Pastor Ted Turner and Pastor Mike Varner officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2019 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel.

Loretta Conroy

Loretta Rossignol Conroy, 80 of Pilot, entered her Heavenly Home on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. She is preceded in death by her parents, Aldric & Cecile Rossignol.

She met a handsome sailor and fell in love. They were married on August 24, 1957 and began their life and family together. Loretta enjoyed family gatherings. Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas were her favorite. She also enjoyed family cookouts.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John D. Conroy; children & their spouses, John & Brenda Conroy, Debbie Stout, Kenneth & Mary Conroy, and David & Nina Conroy; grandchildren, Stephen Stout (Tasha), Danny Stout, Brian Stout (Miranda), Kenneth Conroy, Jr. (Heather), Billy Conroy (Lisa), Ashley Gainey (Bobby), John Conroy, III (Sierra), and Ann Loretta Conroy; great-grandchildren, Dylan Stout, Aleaha Stout, Melanie Stout, Madeline Stout, Jaxon Stout, Ariel Stout, Kayla Stout, and Jasmine Gainey; and brothers and sisters, Raymond Rossignol (Sherry), Cecila Lachance, Valentine Wellings, and Joan McLeod (Ronnie).

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Wilson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the funeral home.

Irene C. Cock

Irene C. Cock, 86 of Dugspur, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joel “J.B.” Cock.

She is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law, Rena & Kenneth Franklin and Janet & Charles Hoover; granddaughter and husband, Crystal & Tim Barton; great-grandson, D.J. Chappell; brother & sister-in-law, Lawrence & Eileen Cox; nephew, Howard Cox; and special friends, Carolyn Barnes, Gloria Frazier, and Susan Utt.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Hubert Clifford Turpin

Hubert Clifford Turpin, 90 of Indian Valley, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia J. Turpin; and parents, Cliff & Maggie Turpin.

He is survived by his four children, Larry H. & Martha Turpin, Frankie “Wendell” Turpin, Jimmy L. Turpin, and Carolyn “Loretta” & George McMillan; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Roy Turpin officiating. Interment will follow in the Captain George Quesenberry Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
