Kenneth Dillon Belcher

 

Kenneth Dillon Belcher, 88 of Floyd, passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021. He is preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Weddle Belcher; parents, Wesley & Lelia Belcher; son-in-law, Scott Bolt; brother & sister-in-law, Vernon & Eula Belcher; and in-laws, Edward Weddle, Bruce Weddle, Frances Hatcher, Carolyn Magana, Lyndell Bower, and Catherine Quesinberry.

He is survived by his daughter, Erica Bolt; granddaughter, Katelyn Spruill (Cody); brother & sister-in-law, Odell & Ellen Belcher; sisters-in-law & brother-in-law, Delpha Sutphin and Janet & Russell Hylton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2021 in the Jacksonville Cemetery with Pastor Joe Cox officiating and Military Rites by the Army National Guard.

Louise Harris Lyle

 

Louise Harris Lyle, 97 of Radford, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021. She is preceded in death by her husband, Junior Clayton Lyle; son, Tyrell Clayton Lyle; and all of her brothers and sisters.

Louise was a well-known locally recognized quilter. She loved politics and was intrigued by the current events, including keeping up with the world’s happenings until the end.

She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Lyle; son & daughter-in-law, Joseph & Amy Lyle; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held in the Indian Creek Cemetery.

Christine Boothe Horton, 75 of Floyd, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, Brady & Alma Boothe; siblings, Thelma Smith, Jr. Boothe, Edna Moles, Virginia Graham, Estelle Shealor, Nancy Bragg, Jean Huff, and Shirley Boothe; and step-granddaughter, Cassie Robinette.

She is survived by her husband, Gary J. Horton; children and their spouses, Andy & Angie Huff and Wendy & Jamie Atkins; grandchildren, Shawn Atkins (Vanessa), Brady Atkins (Olivia); step-grandchildren, Whitney Robinette and Derek Robinette (Brittney); step great-grandchildren, Zayne and Lillie Robinette; brothers & sisters-in-law, Jimmy & Betty Boothe and Joe & Mary Boothe; sister, Annie Jones; and special companion, Ginger. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the Little River Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Johnson and Pastor Allan Vass officiating. Interment will follow in the Lee Cemetery (Tuggles Gap). The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at the church.

Ashleigh Elaine Cuffle, infant daughter of Kenny Cuffle and Brooke Smith, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021. She is preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Don Killen, Gary Landry, Ernest “Chet” Cuffle, Helen Dyre Blevins, and Homer Franklin Neece.

In addition to her parents, Ashleigh is survived by her grandparents, Chad & Kathy Smith and Jeffrey & Patricia Cuffle; great-grandparents, Steve Smith, Susan Smith, Meg Killen, and Mary Cuffle; aunts, Blake Smith and Tiffany Breckinridge; uncles, Jack Smith and Travis Cornell; and numerous extended great-aunts, great-uncles, and cousins.

A private memorial service will be held.

Monroe Manford Willis

 



Monroe Manford Willis, 82 of Copper Hill, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earnest & Gertrude Willis; sons, Kevin Willis and two infant sons; and sister, Mary Lee Pleasants.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Wood Willis; sons & daughters-in-law, Ronnie & Lisa Willis, Tony & Pam Willis, and Travis & Charlotte Willis; daughter & son-in-law, Cindy & Eugene Smith; special grandchildren, Destiny and Nickolys; grandchildren, Brandy, Morgan, Bella, Travis, Earnest, Justin, and Danielle; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2021 in the Restvale Cemetery with Chaplain Melton Johnson officiating.

Lois Webb Boyd, 94 of Floyd, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 21, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie & Edith Webb; husband, Charles Oliver Boyd; son, Gayland Clarence Boyd; and four brothers and three sisters. 

She is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law, Brenda & Nolan Webb and Elaine & Danny L. Phillips; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother & sister-in-law, Sydney & Allie Webb; and sister, Mozelle Webb Boyd.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Danny Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 1 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

Claudine Vest Haynes, 87 of Floyd, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. She is preceded in death by her brothers & sisters-in-law, Harless & Ruby Vest, Alton & Christine Vest, and Freddie & Shelby Vest. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Don L. Haynes; son & daughter-in-law, Anthony & Jessica Talley-Haynes; grandchildren, Alexis Hudson (Matt) and Sekai Talley-LaRoche; great-grandchild, Eleanor Hudson; sister & brother-in-law, Ina & Herbert Wood; twin sister & brother-in-law, Lorine & David Huff; and one niece and numerous nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021 in the Jacksonville Cemetery with Dr. Duncan Rankin officiating. Those wishing to pay their respects by signing the book may do so on Thursday, March 11, 2021 between the hours of 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Maberry Funeral Home. At the family’s request, masks are required when attending the graveside service.

Edward Lee Pratt

 

Edward Lee Pratt, 48 of Elliston, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Edward loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his kids. He was a gun collector and loved old cars, including his 1964 Nova. He was devoted to and loved his job at Steel Dynamics for 27 years.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Tingler Pratt; parents, Charles & Brenda Pratt; sons, Thomas Pratt, Zachary Pratt, and Jacob Pratt; daughter, Rebecca Tingler; brother, Timothy Pratt (Kirsten); sister, Carolyn Pratt Mycek (Daniel); a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and best friends, William Statome and Jimmy Sinclair.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Eddie Boothe officiating. Interment will follow in the Pratt Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the service.

Beulah Marie Radford Yearout

 

Beulah Marie Radford Yearout, 71 of Floyd, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ted Pearson Yearout; and daughter-in-law, Cathy Yearout.

Beulah was an incredibly strong woman. She never had easy life, growing up in a rural Floyd County as one of 14 silbings, but she was happy. For 25 years she battled multiple forms of cancer and today she's not fighting anymore. She loved being a grandmother more than anything else and she let everyone know that. If there are three things Beulah would want everyone to know it's 1. She loved her Lord and savior with all her heart. 2. She loved her family unconditionally. 3. She loved and cared for her friends and neighbors.

She is survived by her sons & daughter-in-law, Ron & Joyce Yearout and Don Yearout; grandsons, William, Kieffer, Cameron, and Ben Yearout; and granddaughters, Molly and Abby Yearout.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 8, 2021 in the Beaver Creek Cemetery with Pastor Warren Bumgarner officiating.

Mavis Corrine Cox

 

Mavis Corrine Cox, 83 of Willis, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. She was born on May 22, 1937 to the late Clova Bolt Dalton. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Warren “Bud” Cox; granddaughter, Misty Jo Cox; brother, Venston Dalton and sisters, Mabel Boyd and Lareda Quesenberry.

“Rean” was the oldest of 9 siblings. She was born and raised in the Buffalo Mountain community, which she dearly loved. She was a loving wife and devoted mother to her children. When asked what made her happy, she said “Family”. Rean also opened up her home and heart to her many extended family and friends throughout her life. Welcoming everyone with kindness, open arms and a wonderful smile, those moments will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Warren “Bo” (Ann), Lloyd (Becky), Christine (John) Benson, and Eldon (Leslie); five grandchildren, Angie (Matt), Travis (Samantha), Jessica (Devon), Amanda, and Michael (Amie); 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Norman Dalton, William Dalton, Earl Dalton, and Franklin Dalton; and sister, Wanda Linkous.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2021 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Danny Phillips and Pastor Vernon Dalton officiating. Interment will follow in the Irenia Mayberry Cox Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2021 at the funeral home.

Jessie B. Mitchell, Jr.

 

Jessie B. Mitchell, Jr, age 82, of Christiansburg went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 1, 2021 after a brief illness.  He was preceded in death by his parents Jessie B. and Lettie H. Mitchell; and brother, Donald.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 56 years, Reba Jean; and son, Jeffrey.  He also leaves behind two sisters, JoAnn Heffernan (Mike) and Barbara Stockner; sisters-in-law, Nancy Mitchell, Bernice Woods, Ella Breeding (Bobby), Verda Robbins (Bud); brothers-in-law, Wendell (Brenda), Hogue, David (Sherrie), Rick Barnette; and numerous nieces and nephews.                                                                                                                                                    
Jessie was a Veteran of the U. S. Army.  He obtained an A.S. Degree from New River Community College and was a graduate of Nashville Auto Diesel College.  He was a member and deacon of Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Jessie was a quiet and humble man who loved the Lord and always met you with a smile that would light up the room.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2021 in the Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Lowell Hopkins and Elder Carlton Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Indian Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon – 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Buel D. Bolt


Buel D. Bolt, 80 of Floyd, went Home to be with his Savior on March 1, 2021.

He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Marie U. Bolt; son & daughter-in-law, Philip & Jaimie Bolt; daughter & son-in-law, Karen & Randall Sutphin; and one special grandson, Justin Sutphin.

Private services were held with interment in the Harris Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the Salem VA Medical Center and Intrepid Hospice for all of the people and services provided to make his final days comfortable. They would like to offer a special thank you to Crystal Black, caregiver, and forever known as family.

Glenn "Parker" Barber, Sr.

 

Glenn Parker Barber, Sr., 78 of Floyd, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel & Hazel Barber; and siblings, June Vest, Samuel Barber, Fred Barber, Ralph Barber, Anita Gardner, Wilma Reece, Dessie Broyls, and MD Barber.

He enjoyed playing chess, solitaire, working crossword puzzles, and Country and Gospel music, including writing some songs. He was a saw miller by trade. Parker lived a full and blessed life. He always had a smile for everyone he met and found joy in everyone. He was a very giving person if he thought you needed something he had he would quickly offer it to you. He enjoyed walking everywhere he went. He told his family he had walked from one end of Floyd to the other and made friends all along the way. Parker was from the old school Buffalo Mountain ways. He and others like him are a rare breed. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Glen & Dawn Barber; daughter & son-in-law, Elizabeth & Mike Bean; grandchildren, Keith & Tiffany Coleman, Emily Coleman, Brandi DeJesus, Brent DeJesus, Mike & Jessica Bean, Shelby Bean, and Allen Ashley; great-grandchildren, Zachery Shelton Lee Worley, Anna Marie Angel Bean, and Mya Rene; and brothers, Roger Barber and Donnie Barber.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 in the Harris Cemetery with Pastor Roy Turpin officiating.

Chad Everett Hollandsworth

Chad Everett Hollandsworth, 48 of Willis, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Virgil & Elois Trail; and uncle, Tommy Trail.

Chad loved to dress up, eat chocolate and drink Pepsi. He was an avid Virginia Tech fan. He genuinely enjoyed life, having visitors, and spending time taking rides with his mom, Connie.

He is survived by his mother, Connie Trail Hollandsworth; brother & sister-in-law, Scott & Jennifer Hollandsworth; aunts & uncles, Carol Bishop, Judy Hollandsworth Hylton, Barry & Barbara Trail, and Jerry Hollandsworth; and numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be private.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Charles Judy, Dr. Carl Bivens, Dr. O’Donavan, as well as Intrepid Hospice and all of the nursing staff who cared for him and kept him company through the years.

John Paul Duncan, Sr., 79 of Willis, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilber & Ella Duncan; and brother, Tony Duncan.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Duncan; son & daughter-in-law, John Paul, Jr. & Kathy Duncan; grandchildren, Amanda & Isaac Buckner and Christopher & Grace Duncan; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Buckner and Tinley Duncan; brothers & sisters-in-law, Rodney & Grace Duncan and Alton & Mayola Duncan; and sisters & brother-in-law, Mary Alice Watson, Eileen Alderman, and Joyce & Wayne Huff.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Vernon Dalton officiating. Interment will follow in the Big Sand Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Diana White Harrell, 72 of Dublin, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, Emmett Guy & Dillie Marshall White; and niece, Jenny Spencer.

Diana graduated from Floyd County High School and retired from Radford University with 45 years of service.

She is survived by her son, Joshua Harrell; sister, Bonnie Mason (Fred); brother, Lonnie White; nephew, Shelman Spencer (Jamie); great-nephew, Maximus Spencer; and great-niece, Avery Spencer.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, 2021 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dale Akers officiating. Interment will follow in the Captain George Quesenberry Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Chloe Altizer Bishop


Chloe Altizer Bishop, 82, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2021 at Commonwealth Senior Living in Radford, Virginia. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Bishop; daughter, Becky Caldwell; and her parents, Aaron and Ada Altizer.

She is survived by a daughter, Cindy Hylton of Floyd; granddaughter & grandson-in-law, Ariel & Chris Bethell; great-grandsons, Silas and Ren Bethell, all of Riner; sisters & brothers-in-law, Ellen & Carly Spence, Hattie Trail, Geneva & Allen Cox; brother & sister-in-law, Robert & Robin Bishop; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.   

Chloe was a kind and generous person who enjoyed spending her days on the farm tending to her cattle, and flat-footing at the Floyd Friday Night Jamboree. She had a love for music and played the upright bass in her and her husband’s band, B&H Bluegrass. She enjoyed playing pranks on her friends and co-workers at Kollmorgen where she worked until she retired. She was a member of Riner Grace Brethren Church. 

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the Roselawn Memorial Garden Mausoleum with Pastor Kenny Farley officiating. The family will receive friends from Noon – 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel.

Ralph Edwin Yopp, 77 of Copper Hill, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. He is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann Yopp; parents, Earl & Ida Yopp; daughter-in-law, Carol Yopp; two brothers; and one sister.

He is survived by his sons & daughters-in-law, Frank & Joan Yopp, Tim Yopp, Greg Yopp, and Ronald & Shelby Yopp; grandchildren, Cody, Cory, Dustin, Dreama, Faith, and Derek Yopp; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Bentley, Landon, and Chloe, Noel, Ryder, Jasper, and Nevaeh; three brothers; and four sisters.

There will not be any services.

Oleda Marshall Kenley, 94 of Indian Valley, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Jackson Kenley; and daughter, Evelyn Higgs.

She is survived by her children, Ruth Derflinger, Claude & Sarah Kenley, and Teresa Paisley; son-in-law, Jewell Higgs; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Roy Bentley, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Captain George Quesenberry Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
