Thelma Jean Webb Via

 

Thelma Jean Webb Via, 85 of Floyd, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026. She is preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Hattie Webb.

Thelma was an active member of Floyd Baptist Church. She loved sewing and quilting. She served the community with her business of K & T Electric Supply for over 25 years. She held offices in several community programs.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, George C. Via; daughter, Kimberly Via; son & daughter-in-law, Todd & Vicky Via; five grandchildren, Brittney Sulloway, Chelsey Newman (James), Brenna Rakes (Mike), Callie Keesee (Chad), and Zachery Burchette (Bailey); and 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Helms; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Semones officiating. Interment will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Good Samaritan Hospice for the care she received.

Dolly Katherine Phillips Conner

Dolly Katherine Phillips Conner, 68 of Floyd, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 12, 2026. Dolly was born on January 24, 1958 to Theron Arston & Martha Agnes Phillips in Radford, VA. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Jacob “Jake” Coburn Phillips who she is rejoicing and reuniting with in Heaven; and her sister, Patsy Phillips.

After graduating from Floyd County High School, she went on to study at Ferrum College and Radford University where she got her Masters in Communication and Public Speaking. She taught both in Radford, VA and Lewisburg, NC as a professor in communication.

Dolly was known for her kindness and love. She never met a stranger. She loved to sing, including with the choir at New Harvest Ministries. She was a wonderful mother who cherished her sons and a dedicated grandmother.

She is survived by her sons, Zachary Conner (Jessica) and Joshua Conner; grandchildren, Melody and Jasper Conner, and Aolani Bason; sisters, Peggy Quesenberry and Nancy Page; and nieces, Kristen Orange (Kevin) and Emily Kaylor (Joey).

Funeral services will be held at Noon on Friday, July 17, 2026 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Roy Bentley officiating. Interment will follow in the White Rock Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until Noon prior to the service at the funeral home.

Wayne Allen Boothe

 

Wayne Allen Boothe, 87 of Floyd, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026. He is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mary Ellen Price Boothe; parents, Calvin & Weda Boothe; brother, James Boothe; sisters, Margie Wright, and Linda Harris. 

He is survived by his sons & daughters-in-law, Jerry & Susan Boothe, Terry & Melinda Boothe, and Rusty Boothe; daughter & son-in-law, Melissa & Brian Spangler; grandchildren, Joshua Boothe (Siobhan), Patrick Boothe (Lindsey), Emily Cox (Ben), Zachary Boothe (Karalynn), Abigail Boothe, Alyssa Boothe, and Camden Spangler; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Proffitt and Lois Reynolds (Wayne). 

Wayne served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the American Legion Post #127. He retired from Inland Motors/Kollmorgen after 39 years of service, and continued running the family farm. 

There will be no services held at this time.

Kevin Wayne Sweeney

 

Kevin Wayne Sweeney, 60 of Floyd, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026 with his loving family by his side. He is preceded in death by his father, Timmy Sweeney.

Kevin is lovingly remembered by his faithful, devoted wife of 26 years, Teresa Mitchell Sweeney; his sons, Christopher (Heather) Sweeney and Ryan (Kelly) Baker; his cherished grandchildren, Emmarae, Cheyenne, and Owen Sweeney, and Tulson, Walt, and Ella Baker; his mother, Lela (Dean) Hogan; sister, Patti Sweeney; brother, Michael (Melina) Sweeney; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob & Linda Mitchell; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sherry & Randy Quesenberry; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren with Pastor Roy Turpin and Michael Sweeney officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at the church.  

Drema Lee Dickerson

Drema Lee Dickerson, 66 of Floyd, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 3, 2026. She is preceded in death by her father, H. Hoover Dickerson; mother, Goldie Turpin Dickerson Harris; and stepfather, Olen Harris.  

She is survived by her son, Brian Cox (Jocelyn); daughter, Crystal Huff (Daniel); granddaughters, Elizabeth Cox, Chelsea Cox, Melanie Cox, Samantha Cox; grandsons, Matthew Huff (Kacey Clarke); Dylon Huff; cousin and special friend, Anna Snavely; and special friend, Judy Bowden. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at the Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren with Pastor Roy Turpin and Pastor Brian Turpin officiating. Interment will follow in the Duncan Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at the church.

Chester Paul Clower

Chester Paul Clower, 98 of Roanoke, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Anne Clower; parents, Willard & Evelyn Clower; and sisters, Janet Clower Nester and Betty C. Moles.

Paul was born in Check, Virginia and served in the United States Navy from April 29, 1946 until March 3, 1948. He worked for AEP for 38 years before his retirement on May 1, 1990. He was part of the Blue Bird Society, was a long-time volunteer with Meals on Wheels, and an avid Rook player.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Clower; sons & daughters-in-law, Randy & Abby Clower and Scott & Alanna Clower; daughter & son-in-law, Becky & Tim Wiles; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sisters & brother-in-law, Donna Welch and Phyllis & Percy Wilson.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 in the Jacksonville Cemetery with Allen Nester officiating.

Timothy Winfred Quesenberry

 Timothy Winfred Quesenberry was born in Caretta, WV on March 7, 1953. In 1969 he graduated from Big Creek High School. He attended Concord College and Bluefield State. Timothy worked briefly in the social work field. He was a devoted son, loved brother, and beloved uncle. For most of his life he cared for his mother and they were each other’s best companions. 

He was very creative and intelligent. He spent hours making afghans, many of which continue to be treasured by family. Timothy spent many hours practicing embroidery and sewing for many years. He loved to read and avidly consumed literature. Tim especially loved the Christmas holidays and enjoyed giving gifts. He had a tremendous sense of humor and he will be greatly missed. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rollie and June Dalton Quesenberry; brothers, David Quesenberry and Terry Quesenberry. 

He is survived by his brother, Larry Quesenberry; nieces, Tiffany Jones, Tonya Beckett, and Raegan Kotsko; and many cousins, great-nieces, and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2026 in the Quesenberry Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Poston officiating. The family will receive friends from Noon until 1 p.m. in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel prior to the service at the cemetery.
